Ask us about your TalkTalk email account and Webmail.

My webmail now holds only about 22 emails. I had well over a thousand on TalkTalk's server. This is very serious as I run a band and I often need to check old gigs. Can I get them back?

Do you have any filter rules set up to redirect email messages to your own email address?
on 02-10-2025 04:39 PM
Yes the folder view is open in Webmail. In the sent email folder there are only three emails. I must have sent thousands in the time I have been with TalkTalk which is well over 20 years.
on 02-10-2025 04:31 PM
Can you please check if the folder view is closed. This may cause of your emails are missing.
on 02-10-2025 04:30 PM
No, you are still with TalkTalk you should not be affected.
on 02-10-2025 04:12 PM
No I haven't. Just a thought: could it be when TalkTalk subcontracted the email service?
on 02-10-2025 02:21 PM
Have you tried to set up an alternative email program or App on any device about the same time you noticed emails were missing?
on 02-10-2025 01:54 PM
Thanks for your interest. The annoying thing is I use Dropbox to back up everything but there is a time limit of 28 days, I think, to get back deleted files and partly because of my holiday I have missed the opportunity. I have now paid extra and I get 12 months.
on 02-10-2025 01:51 PM
Yes I can - on my iPad. But there are only 35 emails there.
on 02-10-2025 01:28 PM
@jazzclt, this seems to happen very occasionally with some Talktalk email accounts.
Talktalk always recommends that you back up important emails yourself, because once they are gone from webmail, they are gone altogether, if also not to be found in the bin. They cannot then be retrieved.
People you fixed gigs with may have kept copies?

Are you able to access your TalkTalk email account through https://apps.talktalk.co.uk/appsuite/?
on 02-10-2025 01:13 PM
talktalk.net
on 02-10-2025 01:10 PM
@jazzclt Could you please tell me the last part of your email address? This is the section after the @ symbol.
on 02-10-2025 01:09 PM
I usually access emails on my PC but I check webmail often to make sure no useful emails are judged scam by your system. I also use an iPad and an iPhone to access emails.
on 02-10-2025 12:34 PM
So, to answer the question that I have asked above you access your emails using a PC?
on 02-10-2025 12:28 PM
Yes that is correct. I now have less than 30 emails whereas a few weeks ago I had thousands. I relied on these for looking up historical gigs as I run a band.

I have forwarding set up so that emails are sent to my gmail account but a copy is saved on the TalkTalk account. I never set the account to automatically delete emails. You asked: I need to know what device are you using when accessing your email? I use Thunderbird on my Windows 11 PC normally but I check with Webmail, as well, fairly often. I have checked the settings on Webmail.

@jazzclt I need to know what device are you using when accessing your email?
on 01-10-2025 09:21 AM
I have just tried this and no, old emails from a recent sender do not appear.
on 01-10-2025 08:16 AM
@jazzclt please use the search bar and search one email address that has also sent you a message previously which is now missing to see if the old emails will not show.
