The look of a recent scam:

Many obvious errors, but sadly neither Talktalk mail servers nor the Gmail address it forwarded to identified it as Spam.

I think there's a distinction between responding to PMs and suddenly popping up in a discussion on another thread, @davehuddart2, so people wouldn't understand that you thought you were just continuing the conversation.

It's usually better to start your own topic for an issue or query so that staff can tailor the reply.

My original post was just to display a very strange phishing scam. You'll see that even I lost track of the fact that I was the OP! Threads can get a bit long and lose their way after a while, so I'll set this to not accept new posts to avoid further confusion.

Andy - there is already a topic for this issue where people are saying that the TalkTalk servers are not allowing you to forward an email to theirs or the government Phishing addresses.

Do you want me to create a new topic? (Gwendowlin2 has responded to some emails already) it seems the new provider for TalkTalk are not addressing the issue.

Hi, you replied to my email concerning forwarding scam emails to TalkTalk phishing and the government equivalent site, suggesting I send the emails as a saved file. This does work but it takes a lot longer - do you have any news from our email provider as to when we can forward the original email like we used to be able to do?

Also can you re-assure me that any selected as spam and put in the relevant box will be acted upon?

Cheers

Dave

Ah, well.

This is me from my tablet. Sorry, I omitted the '2' in your new id. The strange thing is that, logged in as durdle1, I can see all my subscriptions for durdle. No sign of durdle's pms, though.

That last message came through to my old ID! 😊

I'm not worried,  @Gliwmaeden, Irritated, maybe, but not worried. Just have to sync it with any inherent split personality traits others might think they detect in me. Until just plain durdle and his history disapear once I can no longer log in using my password on my phone. Sad day, that will be; I've known him for around 20 years.

It's odd, @durdle  / @Durdle1  - I haven't had to sign in with my username and password since getting set up with the email and pin code method, so that never caused me problems with my username showing correctly.

It doesn't seem to matter which device I'm on.

I've also occasionally gone from my account to the forum and show up here with the correct username.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as you know who you are, 😊, we know who you are, and you are able to get help on here when you need it. 😊

That last message, from Durdle1 was from my tablet, and required my email address plus code. This one is from my phone,  and required my user name and password. I can't work out how to switch the tablet to durdle and I've no doubt that circumstances will eventually force me to use Durdle1 on both. Any thoughts?

No, it's the system for signing in without a password. I give my email address and it sends a code to my phone. That gets me signed in as Durdle1, not as plain old durdle. I would prefer durdle, and I obviously do get to use that sometimes, but I seem unable to work out how to never end up as Durdle1.

Message 11 of 24

All I know is that it seems to send correctly, @Durdle1.

Did you have to reinvent your forum name to get in just now? [Edit: just remembered that you had trouble with it back in the summer, so still got 2 names!]

Thanks, @Gliwmaeden2. Does this method have any disadvantages when compared with forwarding?

I didn't look far enough back 😁.

I mean my reply to Roger66.

I normally just forward this sort of rubbish to report@phishing.gov.uk. Just lately, however, some, though not all of them, have become stuck in my outbox in a perpetual loop of being sent, failing to be sent, being sent again, failing again etc, until I delete the attempt. I have no idea why this happens, but I assume it's down to scammers wising up.

Hi durdle, this is most definitely a scam.

I have noticed that recently I am unable to report scam Emails to the National Cyber Security Centre because they are rejected by the TalkTalk server. I am wondering what has changed. Have the scammers found a way around or are TalkTalk deliberately not allowing them to be forwarded. I would be pleased if anyone has an answer.
