Ask us about your TalkTalk email account and Webmail.

My wife has a Lineone.net email account and she received an email today from yourbill@billing@talktalk.co.uk providing a breakdown of her February bill. There was nothing unusual about this. But when she tried to forward it to my Lineone.net email address, she immediately received a "Undeliverable" email warning from "System Adminstrator" stating that my Lineone email address cannot be reached due to the following reason: "550 5.7.1 Reject for policy reason". She tried again but received the same blocking message.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? Is it the TalkTalk mail server?

Thanks Ady.
I think that completes my query.
Hopefully TalkTalk email spam policies won't prevent me or my wife from using our Lineone emails accounts for normal use.

I can't speak to whether TalkTalk is worse for spam than others although I have to say my gmail accounts receive very little in the main folders the bulk hits the spam folder.

Hi Ady
Thanks for explaining. However this does seem to indicate that TalkTalk's technical response to its spam problem is unable to reliably differentiate between legitimate email and spam email.
Does it mean that there just isn't any way to forward this single email to another single recipient? I am asking because other email providers do not seem to have this problem. Is TalkTalk affected by spam significantly more than other email service providers?
Thanks for your help..

Hi Kilonova, it was necessary I'm told to prevent mail forwarding due to the massive amounts of spam being forwarded through the TalkTalk servers.

Yes, there's never enough information in these messages.
There is always at least 2 systems involved,
the sender's outgoing server and the recipient's incoming server.
And there is always 2 system administrators or postmasters.
It would be nice to know which.
Regarding the 'Reject for policy reason', it would be nice to know who is doing the rejecting.
And regarding the 'reason', it would be nice to know what that reason is.
