Can only receive emails but can’t send any since 25th July!

There's an ongoing crisis with this, @Jangustafson - no knowing how long it will take to sort.
If you are a current broadband customer and this is an old address, make sure you've listed the email in Private Notes in Personal Information in your community profile. SAVE CHANGES.
When staff are back after the weekend they'll make sure the email address is associated with your My Account.
If you are not a current broadband customer, you need to be subscribing to Everymail. https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Email-Transition-FAQs/ta-p/3114888
A good idea to fully complete your community profile so go via your avatar; settings; Personal Information: add your Talktalk phone number or account number etc.
You'll see Private Notes further down that section. Again, SAVE CHANGES.
