I have recently received emails from TalkTalk or an imitator which to me are suspicious. I have forwarded these to phishing@TalkTalk for confirmation of their authenticity. Unfortunately I have not received any answer from TalkTalk. Examples from memory are ‘you need to update your mailbox settings’ and ‘you need to update your maintenance settings’ supposedly after recent changes with TalkTalk systems.  Can somebody confirm whether these are true or false? Should I respond to them or just delete them ?

You did need to update some settings In your mail settings over a year ago and these changes were clearly described and can be found on the TalkTalk website.

Without these changes you would be unable to send or receive emails so if you can do these you are up to date in this respect and can ignore or delete such mails.

Tech guys are working on reducing the amount of spam getting through.

Hi,

It's a scam.

If you hover over the senders details it's also unlikely to be a TalkTalk email address.

Whatever you do, do not click on any links.

TalkTalk have requested that spam mail be reported to them.
How to do this can be found here

Thank you.
