Hi. I am connected "server wise|" via : In - mail.talktalk.net - 993 - SLL/TLS and Out - smtp.talktalk.net - 587 - SLL/TLS.
Since yesterday afternoon my client emails (Outlook - Windows 11) are very slow to receive (no error messages) and this morning I cannot access web mail and get either Login not possible at the moment. Please try again later (LGI-0005) or latterly Connection error the server is not available right now.
Any ideas, is there a problem with the Tiscali server again ? Thank you.

Cheers Gondola and thanks for all our help.

Looks like the last of the delayed mail messages rolled in just before 2:15pm and, fingers crossed, all ok since then.

I have two Tiscali email accounts, on each of which I have just sent myself "test" messages (Windows Mail) and both were sent and received almost instantaneously, so problem could be solved ?

For me, earlier today there was a 20 minute delay but I'm now seeing some mail messages with a 1 hour delay. I believe the Mail platform was rebooted because I got signed out. I don't believe that's fixed the root cause but it does seem to have improved platform performance. Even so it may take some time for buffered mail messages to work through the system. Hopefully we may see an improvement this afternoon.

Some Windows Mail items are taking approx 30 minutes to "come through".

The incident is at last being worked on and you can track it on the Service Status (Email) page.

Hi Ady.
My problem with "email delay" persists. Thank you.

No, webmail is still showing delayed delivery for some mail messages. Currently, mail is either delivered promptly or has a 20 minute delay for those messages I've looked at this morning.
Also mail message content is not necesssarily loading as quickly as it normally does. The email header is loaded but message content is replaced by the animated loading arrows in a circle and I just had the Server Unreachable pop up whilst waiting for content to load.
So TalkTalk Mail is still not functioning as it should. Delivery delays are going to be because mail is being buffered and maybe that's as a result of slow access to the mailbox servers which also then results in the message content taking time to load. The Server Unreachable is just indicative of the mailbox server links being unavailable or mailbox servers just being too busy to respond.
That's my diagnosis fwiw.

That is definitely what's happening currently. I got an immediate notification of my last post.

I have two Tiscali email accounts, on each of which I sent myself "test" messages (client mail) an hour ago, one arrived within 10 minutes the other has still not arrived. Receive some Forum notifications immediately, others take ages. All a strange business !!

But just to prove me wrong, no notification of my post but did get a 2 hour delayed notification of a post by Debbie! This indicates mail is either being deferred for scanning or being queued for delivery by the mail platform and therefore whilst some mail does arrive promptly there are currently 2 hour delays for some mail.

None given to me and the TalkTalk team that are online haven't bothered to respond to my report. All I can say is that the webmail poor responsiveness is still ongoing and every now and then still getting the server unreachable pop up that indicates an intermittent or congested connectivity to the Mail platform / temporary inability to connect to the mail servers.
Pings to the mail server platform in Germany are normal. Thunderbird IMAP seems ok - when I post this I'd expect a fast response from Thunderbird with the Community notification.

Is there any indication when " responsiveness of operations on the mail platform" is likely to return to normal ?
on 17-03-2023 11:40 AM
I'm currently using Thunderbird for IMAP access to the platform and not seeing any obvious slowness in operation but am seeing some delayed notifications from Community. The last one had over a two hour delay.
I'm also signed in to webmail via a mobile and although webmail is also via IMAP servers there is an issue with not loading some email content.
This does point to responsiveness of operations on the mail platform.
I was getting 503 Service unavailable on the Firefox webmail sign in but that is now signed in.

Thanks for that Gondola. Would the "slowness" of my client mail also be caused by the problems on the TT Mail platform ?
on 17-03-2023 11:08 AM
No known problem with the 'tiscali server'.
Definitely a problem with the TalkTalk mail authentication and mail platform being slow to respond. Both yesterday morning and this morning the webmail sign in's were timing out and exceeding the six seconds for a sign in to be completed and imposing a 30 second timeout for a repeat sign in. The platform is failing to load email content in a timely manner via webmail. Randomly coming up with the orange pop-up Server Unreachable.
The TalkTalk Mail platform appears to be overloaded so there may be servers out for maintenance, data capacity issues or mailbox data being moved.
Nothing amiss at the user end so make no changes.
