Unable to add emails to mailbox

Hi 

This morning I changed the ownership of my dads talktalk to me. 

I was told that the emails in the mailbox would also transfer but that is not the case.

I want to add my families emails to the mailbox but when I try to it says that there is technical issues.

Is there anyway you can help??
