i have done another quick test and looks ok

Message 4 of 23

Thanks everyone, I think (fingers crossed) that it might now be ok. I will do a few more checks shortly and confirm

Message 5 of 23

No worries Chris / Ray I've picked up the incoming server settings from Ray's image folder and can confirm the Outlook settings are perfect for both incoming and outgoing mail.

So, all that's needed now is for Ray to see if Outlook 365 mail will send and receive and let us know.

Hi Ray,

I've removed the images from your previous post because, as Gondola has pointed out, as they contain personal information

You're showing me two images of Outlook's outgoing server settings that are spot on perfect. You may wish to remove those and redact the email address to protect yourself from spammers.

Incoming server settings not seen yet.

@raylloyd wrote:...why now windows mail if i am an outlook user

Because what you showed me was Windows Mail that comes as the email software bundled with Windows 10.  If you want to launch Outlook and screenshot the incoming and outgoing server settings for that software I'll happily check for you.

why now windows mail if i am an outlook user

Message 15 of 23

Hi, I have altered the 993:0 to 993:1

Message 16 of 23

Hi raylloyd

You're showing me the Sync Options for Windows Mail. Slight change needed there.

Incoming mail server

mail.talktalk.net:993:1

(the final digit needs to be 1 not 0).

So as we're nearly there with Windows Mail (not Outlook) I've requested that full access is restored for the email address mailbox in your Community profile, Personal information, Private notes.

TalkTalk Support will respond here and access returned within a couple of days after that. Until then use TalkTalk Mail webmail via an up to date Internet browser to keep in touch with email contacts.

Outlook 365 supports secure mail and to update go via the Advanced setup settings of an email profile, as in this example for Windows 10.

  • Select the  Windows icon bottom left
  • Select the  Settings cog icon
  • Select Accounts
  • Select  Email & Accounts and for a first time setup select Add Account and enter the settings in the table
  • Or select the email account
  • Select Change account or double click on the email account

At that point on your device you ought to see the Outlook setup to enter the TalkTalk Mail server settings: NB All talktalk domains use the exact same IMAP secure settings.

Supported Outlook 365 settings for IMAP email accounts are:

Account Type  IMAP secure
Username Full TalkTalk email address
Password TalkTalk email password
Incoming mail server mail.talktalk.net
Incoming Port (IMAP) 993
Incoming Connection Security SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail server smtp.talktalk.net
Outgoing Port 587
Outgoing Connection Security STARTTLS
My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication Yes
Authentication Method Normal Password (Not SPA)

However, Outlook 365 will not authenticate a connection until TalkTalk restore full access.

For a definitive check of settings take screenshots of the incoming and outgoing server settings, image edit to obscure the first part of the email address and upload here using the Camera icon (desktop browser) or Picture icon (mobile browser) above this reply area.
