webmail not storing my emails

When I check my webmail, messages that I have read are not being stored on the server.  

So although I have received several emails today via my usual email clients on my pc and my phone, these are not visible on my webmail?

My webmail inbox is empty.

How do I fix this?

I think I have worked this out.  My outlook client on the pc had unchecked the box for 'leave messages on the server'.  Probably I had done this some time ago to prevent the problem of my mail quota filling up on webmail preventing email send/receive.  Now that I have checked it my webmail inbox is retaining messages..🙄
