My TV and VRC are each connected by ethernet cables to my aged Huawei-DG8041W router. Is it likely to need replacement? If so, can I get this from TalkTalk or do I source my own?

Hi,
There has been no recurrence of the isuue for a week, so I think it best to just leve this at present. If it comes back and is frequent enough to be annoying I will get in touch. Until then, thanks for your support.

You'll need to be at home during the day to run checks with staff support, @BigToe.
They are on here c 8am but usually finished by 6pm, and not weekends.

So how do we progress? Can you diagnose from your end?

Hey there, @BigToe. Issues with the broadband may vary and sometimes need diagnostics to be made before ordering any equipment, often this is because there is an underlying issue with your line rather the equipment itself.

My TV and VCRare connected (separate cable for each) to the router using ethernet cables. I have checked that the cables are not loose. While I am watching TV over recent nights, a message appears on the TV (from the VCR) advising the internet connection has been lost. Subsequently, a message appears saying the connection has been re-established. When I have 'verified' the message using my phone, it confirms that the connection has been lost and re-established.
It is an old router, provided by yourselves. I imagine it is past its best as I've had it all the time I have lived at this address (8 years) and when a TalkTAlk customer at my previous address. I transferred the account and used the same kit. So, do TalkTalk provide replacements or do I need to source one?

Hi there @BigToe, hope you are well. Please elaborate a bit more on what seems to be the issue, is it the cables or the router perhaps?
