I work from home and last month my router blocked the work VPN. I use Cisco Meraki VPN. This is so stressful and I see from other chats that TT can rollback the firmware on the router to get it working again. My job is at risk if i cannot get this fixed. Please help.

Hi @BPRIT
You cannot have a static IP address. TalkTalk have never offered this on residential services. This is also in line with most if not all ISP domestic installations. You don't need it though; just use DDNS.
That said, you do not need a static IP address if you use DDNS. You need to register with a DDNS provider that is compatible with your router (some are free). Then you configure the router to act as a DDNS client.
Any connections originating from the internet to a device on your local network can now be accessed by the domain name given by the DDNS provider, not the current public IP address of your router.
When the public IP address of the router changes, the DDNS client (your router in this case), signals back to the DDNS server what the new address is. The DDNS provider then automatically updates your domain name with the new IP address.
I can advise further on configuring DDNS if required.

Fantastic! Thanks @Lorrainef . Is it possible to get a static IP address for the talk talk connection. Currently this is changing every week or so and it knocks out the site to site VPN.
Thank you!

Hi BPRIT I've now passed this over to our devices team. I will be honest I do not think we'll get to the bottom of this today but it has been flagged and we'll be in touch as soon as we hear back.

Hi @BPRIT
Thanks, that is the current version. I will need to get this passed over to TalkTalk's Devices team to see if they have tested it. I am waiting for the manager @Lorrainef of the TalkTalk support team on this forum to confirm the best way to do this, as things have changed recently. I'll keep you updated.

Hi @BPRIT
The firmware version is critical, as some early versions did block VPN connections. In your web browser, please go to:-
192.168.1.1
Don't bother to log on to it, the firmware version (sometimes called software) is shown at the bottom left of this page.

Hi Keith, thank you making contact. The router is a Sagemcom wifi router. Not sure how to get the firmware details?
Below is the message i get when i try to connect to the VPN.
I was told by the phone support by two people that TT has stopped supporting VPN's.
Thank you

I have looked this VPN client up and it uses L2TP/IPSec VPN protocol. I cannot test this as I can find no free IPSec VPN servers. When I know your router details, I can get it passed over to TalkTalk's Devices team, but no one else has complained about L2TP/IPSec currently.

Which make/model of router do you have & what firmware version is it running? On every new release, I check as many free VPNs as I can. Do you know which VPN protocol this client uses?
