Hi all,
(Sorry bit of a long post)
I'm having an ongoing issue at the moment which started at the end of February where my upload speed has dropped from 8-9Mbps to anything between 1.66Mbps and 2.5Mbps, the latter being the highest it's been for nearly a week now.
An OpenReach engineer attended my property after a little persuation on TalkTalk Live Chat, on the 26th February and after running a few tests said that the line appeared to be "fine". He did a DLM reset and the speeds on my line returned to normal levels (at least for my line) of 39Mbps/9Mbps download/upload.
Then on around the 20th March I noticed uploads to YouTube going slower than they normally do and after running a speed test noticed that the upload speed had once again started to drop. I contacted TalkTalk on Livechat and after some back and forth agreed to contact OpenReach to monitor the line for a few days to identify any potential issues.
I heard nothing back so contacted TalkTalk today (31st March) via Live Chat and was told that they had attempted to contact me (they hadn't as I had no email or texts which have come through perfectly fine before) and OpenReach had told them there was no issues with the line. I asked the agent to perform a DLM reset but was told they don't have the ability to do that (OpenReach engineer says they do) and was offered a new replacement router to see if that fixed the issue.
I'm currently using a DrayTek Vigor 166 VDSL2 modem connected to an ASUS RT-BE88U router, both decent bits of kit and running my connection completely fine since buying them in November 2024 (before this was running a third party Netgear modem/router with my connection for years without issue). So I don't believe my issue lies with the equipment but an issue with the line that's causing, what I believe is happening, the DLM to restrict the upload speed on the line.
I've attached screenshots from 26th February through to today which starts after the initial DLM reset was done by the OR engineer and then shows the connection performance until now.
My upload speed has always been between 7Mbps & 9Mbps since joining TalkTalk around 9 years ago and whether using a TalkTalk supplied router, my Netgear router or my current equipment hasn't had any issues (apart fom the odd line fault which OR repaired) so it's definitely slower than it should be.
Sorry again for the long post but I'm getting a little frustrated with the Live Chat advice and it's not solving the issue that's clearly there. I'm really hoping that OR roll out full fibre to my area soon (predicted Q3 this year) so that I can hopefully leave this type of problem in the past!
**EDIT**
Worth mentioning that the speed test I ran directly through my router's admin interface not via any device connected to it but I have run speed tests from a desktop computer connected to the router via ethernet (same results).
Thanks in advance all 🙂

thanks for the reply!
The speed tests were done directly through the router (Asus) admin panel as there's a built in speed test facility.

Can you just advise whether those speedtests are wired, or wireless?
