It has been a week now since I upgraded to fibre 65 but my speed when regularly checking has not been any faster than 30mbps. I contacted tech support who said they would upgrade the firmware of my router. I have checked the speed again and it is no better, the firmware version when logging into my router now is SG4K100208. Is this the latest version and if so what are my options?

Thanks for the reply unfortunately it confirms what I thought so I might as well go back to fibre 35 and save my money.

TalkTalk's Fibre35 package is capped at a maximum download sync speed of 40Mbps. Fibre65 removes that cap and allows speeds up to 80Mbps. The thing is though, the actual speed you will get on a FTTC service will depend on the quality and (more importantly) length of the copper part of the line from the cabinet to your home. If your line was only capable of 30Mbps on Fibre35, not even reaching the 40Mbps cap, it's not going to be any faster on Fibre65 with that restriction removed.
The only way you are likely to get more speed is by moving to a full fibre service if any is available in your area. It may be worthwhile phoning customer services and speaking to the loyalty team if you are unsure what services TalkTalk can offer you.

You say your speed has been 30Mbps since the upgrade to Fibre65.
What package were you on before an what speed were you getting?

Have tried switching the router off for 30 minutes but there has been no increase in speed.

I realized the wait encounter is an inconvenience however, firmware updates can take a significant amount of time, especially if they involve substantial changes or improvements that is why it is up to 24hours.

I will give the router reset a go but my other question is how can a firmware update take 24 hours that seems a ridiculous amount of time

Have you tried turning your router off for 30 minutes? If not, try this as this will start a new session and if the line has been updated to 65, should pick up this profile., If yes, it may be worth another try.
Please let us know how you get on.
