Area has had full fibre installed - but not by Openreach.
I have checked that I can upgrade to FF with TalkTalk - BUT I need to cancel my contract and start a new one. This means that my email addresses will die, because it will be a new contract and not a migration. (I currently have BB and phone + TTTV - not worried about carrying phone over).
I don't understand why moving between backbone providers would cause this issue - please can someone explain ?

Please note that the link explains which customers need to sign up to every mail. Please be aware that this transition does not affect our current broadband customers or their email service, only email users who no longer have broadband with us. If you are a current TalkTalk broadband customer, you do not need to do anything right now.

Hi, @siphosethu-TT
Your last answer to @Isendel doesn't make any sense.
@Isendel wants to upgrade from TalkTalk Fibre(FTTC) to TalkTalk Full Fibre(FTTP)
Now it seems that TalkTalk Full Fibre(FTTP) comes via Cityfibre in the OP's area.
So, according to @Gliwmaeden2 , this will not affect anythng, regarding the OP keeping his current email address,
as long as the OP (or yourself), makes sure that his email address is associated with his current TalkTalk Fibre(FTTC) package.

Could you check the information that was given to @Isendel in their previous thread too, please, as that may have caused the confusion about how to keep the email address?
That thread is here:

That's correct, I'm sure the loyalty team was going to fill you on that should you need leave.

Upgrading to Full Fibre, if you have currently only got FTTC Fibre65, will be a new installation.
This information page gives you details of what it involves:
https://help-centre.talktalk.co.uk/Setting_up_my_service/New_order/How_Full_Fibre_is_installed
As long as your Tiscali address is associated with a current Talktalk account, it should be possible to keep emails - have you had a webform completed on your behalf to ensure this happens?
It's if you leave Talktalk, the email address cannot be maintained for free and that facility is covered by a subscription to Everymail.
Staff can confirm.

Not all options appear in My Account, @Isendel, especially if you are not near the end of your ongoing contract.
There are a few differences between Cityfibre's approach and Openreach (or whichever "backbone" company you are referring to) but just because it's available in a street, doesn't mean that there's availability with Talktalk at the moment.
You are best contacting the Loyalty team directly to check what your current options are, on 03451 720088.

Unfortunately the option to upgrade has not yet appeared on my account, even though it is a new account option, and the fibre has been in place since September last year. (other non TT customers have already migrated).

@Isendel Yes upgrades mean that your contract will be renewed but you will not lose your email.
on 16-02-2026 04:55 PM
Upgrade does not mean you will start a new account with a new account number.
