Engaged tone no matter what we do?

I was on the phone to DWP for 30 minutes and suddenly the call went to an engaged tone and no matter what I do it won't stop!

I've unplugged the router and phone but when it comes back on the engaged tone is still there!!!!

Also if I try to ring the landline from my mobile it just says "Call failed"

HELP!!!!

The fault appears to have been an external infrastructure issue, perhaps caused by high temps. Sub stations and the small green cabinets do not like the heat.

It's in my link. 🙂

From the 29th of March our TalkTalk Community will move to peer-to-peer support and the TalkTalk team will no longer be here to support with queries. Don’t worry we still have plenty of ways to reach out if you need to speak to TalkTalk directly. For more details check out the link here: How to contact TalkTalk Broadband - Help & Support.

Well, I don't know if it's a coincidence but my engaged/busy tone went back to normal at 6pm (which could be the DWP's finish time?)

Very strange...

@humpy301

It seems that beyond the problem with DWP which you have in common, @CaptainNemo has a wider issue with his phoneline.

HeHe, I like this one 'LIVE CHAT AND TELEPHONE SUPPORT TIMES'. I have a small problem here, my phone just gives me a engaged tone. Well here we go, my phone working again. How about you CaptainNemo.

@CaptainNemo

Did you use the link to chat in my footnote? Try saying "speak to agent" in your initial response and then "complaint" when prompted further. That might at least get things moving.

@humpy301 no point having a go at TalkTalk here. They have no representation these days so your plea isn't even falling on deaf ears...it's going into a dark black hole.

As said you need to contact them direct.

Hi CaptainNemo, I feel for you when making a call to the DWP, they are a real pain. I'm still getting an engaged tone. Come on TalkTalk give us a clue if we get our phone working.

No, I waited over 40 minutes but no joy.

The self diagnostic line test said everything was AOK?

@CaptainNemo

Yes, my phone down, yet again, cannot make or take calls. This is the second time this happend this year and I was out a phone for four day's. TalkTalk any chance I can use my phone, after all I do pay for one.

The live chat is useless. Getting nowhere fast. I've no idea what's going on but my home landline is now useless. I'm getting a busy/engaged tone no matter what. So basically I can't use the service at all - and I can't get any help too.

Not a great leap forward...

There is nobody from TalkTalk here who can help any longer I'm afraid, see my footnote which includes a link with contact details.
