I first noticed I'd lost landline call making facility on 11th August.

When calling in it is constantly "busy".

Internet works OK. - But I tried turning the router off and on again just in case it made a difference but it didn't.

I unscrewed the cover of the telephone master socket next to the front door and plugged the landline telephone cord straight into it. - Still no dialing tone.

I then tried plugging in my spare "emergency" basic corded phone and that made no difference - still no dialing tone.
Which must mean there's no fault with the phone handset.

I then ordered and fitted a brand new telephone master socket with like-for-like replacement (type NTE5A). - Made no difference, still no dialing tone.

It seems there's an external fault. Could someone get a message to the right person so as to rectify the problem?

I've just done a connection test.

I'm sending this message from my home computer.

Thanks in advance.

@Kaplan-George, thank you for holding. I have double checked on my end and can confirm that the status of the fault is "TASK IN PROGRESS" and line is impacting with major service outage issue and that's why this fault is associated with an incident:AF-IE-2787406892 currently affecting 1118 services according to this I can see main issue is faulty Copper - Theft/Attempted Theft - Exchange Cable - R - Weybridge - L/WB) and team already working on this.

Update.

It's Friday 22nd and again no fix yet and no news from Openreach.

Surely now's the time to gee em up and get it sorted before the long weekend?

@Kaplan-George, your TalkTalk account has been updated on my end and please do expect communication from us about the changes. 🙂 Now that this has been updated, the engineer will then conduct communication via the registered details should there be a need @Kaplan-George. 🙂

Easy! I will just take the mobile number you have added to your community profile and register it to your TalkTalk account. Including attaching care notes 🙂

@Kaplan-George, furthermore, I will be in need to further update your account details and include an active mobile number to be registered which will also not take long. 🙂

So, the engineer was made aware of this matter on 18/08/2025 which entitles for them to begin with the task on the following day which is 19/08/2025. Since today it's the 21/08/2025, the job is still within the given 24-72working hour timescale.

@sabelo-TT

Hi,

Exactly what day was the engineer assigned?

And also, if there is no mobile number linked to my account, how will the engineer get in touch with me if they want to come to my house for further checks or send a text when the job is done?

K-G.
