I first noticed I'd lost landline call making facility on 11th August.

When calling in it is constantly "busy".

Internet works OK. - But I tried turning the router off and on again just in case it made a difference but it didn't.

I unscrewed the cover of the telephone master socket next to the front door and plugged the landline telephone cord straight into it. - Still no dialing tone.

I then tried plugging in my spare "emergency" basic corded phone and that made no difference - still no dialing tone.
Which must mean there's no fault with the phone handset.

I then ordered and fitted a brand new telephone master socket with like-for-like replacement (type NTE5A). - Made no difference, still no dialing tone.

It seems there's an external fault. Could someone get a message to the right person so as to rectify the problem?

I've just done a connection test.

I'm sending this message from my home computer.

Thanks in advance.

@Kaplan-George, I have just double checked via my investigation and do notice that an Openreach engineer has been assigned to help resolve your issue. You can expect the resolution to take place within 24 to 72 working hours from the day the engineer was assigned. If the engineer needs to do any further checks in your home, they will reach out to you using the mobile number linked to your account. You'll also receive a text message once everything has been successfully resolved. Thank you for your patience 🙂

@Kaplan-George, thank you for this. So, what I will do on my end is to conduct minor checks on your line and will be in need for your assistance to confirming a few details on your end with your equipment.

Update.

Thursday 21st and still no fix or news from Openreach. Did the engineer reach the exchange? #satnavontheblink

What can be done to encourage some action? Escalate with "High Priority" tag? Send the message in bold capitals?

It's Bank Holiday next week too.

Concern growing.

OK but when they said that "an engineer was on their way" last Friday morning I assumed that they would have got there well before now.  🙂

Hi there, the fault was reported on Friday, and it typically takes 2 to 3 working days for an engineer to resolve the issue. Since today is the third day, please wait until this evening for any updates. There are no new notes on my end, but an engineer may still visit the line exchange today to check the problem. Thank you for your patience.

Hi,

Looking at my account online, I got a message via "Track my Fault" at 11.36am last Friday 15th which claimed "An engineer is on their way to the exchange".

It's now Wednesday afternoon on the 20th and I've heard nothing since and the problem still exists (no landline).

Any chance you could chase them up and get them to inject a sense of urgency with the fix? I'm concerned.

Thanks.

I have checked on your account, there is a fault and a non - appointed Openreach engineer has been booked. So, it will take 2- 3 working days for the engineer to fix the issue on the line exchange, thanks.
