Phone only rings once on incoming calls

Hi folks,
I've had such a palaver switching my broadband service to TalkTalk. Firstly, they completely messed up the port over from my previous provider. After the switch, they terminated my service and I had to re-order, which left me without broadband for a couple of weeks. Now that is all sorted, but my phone service doesn't receive calls.
The phone rings once, but if I pick it up, all I hear is crackling/noise

For the calling party, the call continues to ring, so they think I'm just not picking up.

Outbound calls work, but there is a lot of noise on the line.

I've been without a working phone line for over a month, so hoping someone on here can help me - fingers-crossed!

Hello,

I've re-checked again and apologies no additional updates as yet. The fault is still with Openreach to resolve and I will check again this afternoon.

Thanks

Good afternoon,

I've re-checked and there are no additional updates as yet and the fault is still under investigation with Openreach. I'll check the fault again first thing in the morning and will post an update back here.

Thanks

Morning,

I'm really sorry to hear this. The line test has detected a potential external line fault (Battery Fault) on the line so I've escalated this straight over to Openreach now for an external line investigation to be  completed and I'll re-check the fault later on this afternoon for an update for you.

Thanks

Michelle

It is a standard phone socket, can you post a pic maybe and of the plug from your phone? This has been flagged to the support team for you.

Thanks ferguson.  have a type of faceplate that I haven't seen before. It clips off without screws, but the socket inside doesn't take a standard phone plug, it seems to be unique to the socket.

The faceplate was fitted by the engineer when he re-connected my service a couple of weeks ago.

Can you log the issue with your support team please.

Have you tried connecting your phone directly at the test socket to see if the issue persists?

Subject to that, if you would like the support team to look into this for you make sure that your personal details including TalkTalk phone number and/or account number are complete on your community profile (click here) so that they can link your forum identity with your account and then wait for them to respond.
