Retaining landline number

I have recently moved house and trying to move my TalkTalk broadband / phone over to my new address.

The new address has full fibre broadband.

I phoned on Friday to complete to transfer and was told that I couldn't keep my current landline number.

I have repeatedly asked customer services and have been given different answers each time. I was told at one point it could be done but when I called to arrange the transfer, I was told I couldn't.

I really need to keep this number, is it really impossible to port this over?

Any advise very welcome. Thank you.

No, when you call the number, please have them transfer you to the correct department. In case it asks you to go to chat just stay on the line until you get through to an agent. Thanks

Thank you @siphosethu-TT  I have tried the number a couple of times but have received conflicting information which is why I thought I'd try here in case anyone else had had the same problem and, if possible, a solution. Is there a technical team you could give me the email address for? Thank you so much for your help.

Hi there @Winter876, I'm not sure if retaining your landline number will be possible. Please contact the better value team using the number below and they will have it looked into for you. Thanks

Yes, I've made too many changes at once I fear, many thanks for your help @ferguson

It is quite a different scenario, I upgraded to digital voice and kept my number, that is quite normal when you aren't changing address.

Yes she was already at her address. I guess combining it with a house move has made it confusing

If there is already a Full Fibre service at the new address it strikes me as unlikely. But you can of course enquire. Even then it may not be possible to do as you would like. Did your daughter's change to digital voice take place at her existing address, rather than after a move?

Thank you, I was offered the copper line service but at only 19mbps ☹️

I guess I'm just confused as my daughter lives next door to my new address and has changed to a digital phone service, whilst keeping the same phone number.

Perhaps if I changed to a copper line service first at the new address and then moved to a digital service later the number could be transferred?

It was possible in very limited circumstances to transfer an existing landline number within the same sub-exchange for copper connections. It may be that is not the case if you have Full Fibre at your new address, which will need a VoIP service if you want a landline. This has been flagged up to the support team here, but I doubt they will be able to advise you any differently to what you have already been told.
