Switch to Talkmobile

Hi

I switched to Talk mobile yesterday and requested to keep my Talktalk number. The advisor told me it would all go through by midnight last night. I restarted my phone this morning and it is showing a completely different number. I gave her the PAC code. Does this now mean I have lost my number? I must say it was incredibly difficult to sort this out. Firstly I was sent the wrong sim and when I received the new sim I spent an hour on the phone before the advisor understood I was switching from talktalk to Talk mobile. I was asked to insert the new sim and she would ring me back. Of course that never happened because it was showing emergency calls. I really thought this was sorted yesterday but it's not. And advice would be appreciated. Thank you

I think TalkTalk have totally confused everything & given me the wrong advise. I have now sorted this with Talk Mobile & I get to keep my existing number . Thank you for your replies 🙂

I rang TalkTalk when I received the notice they were no longer supporting Talk Mobile from the 21st November., They advised me I needed a Talk Mobile Sim & arranged for this to be posted to me. What I received was a TalkTalk sim. After much explaining to an advisor they realised I was sent the wrong sim, they sent me a Talk Mobile sim which I received yesterday

I spoke to a Talk Mobile advisor this morning & they confirmed I needed their sim & my TalkTalk number would be saved . It should all go through by midnight.

@Caroline53, the process should have been as described above in post 7 - that's the standard process, as you need a new SIM card from the provider you are moving TO.

Rang whom? It isn't at all clear in which instance you are talking about the old provider, or the new.

Hi, @ferguson

I rang them again to confirm I needed a new Sim. The agent said yes I do as TalkTalk are no longer supporting the mobile network. I needed to put the new Talk Mobile sim in & they will port my TalkTalk number to the new sim. This takes 24hrs

@Caroline53

Why did you ask TalkTalk for a new SIM? And which SIM did you actually put in your mobile: that one, or the one from Talk Mobile?

I don't understand why you received a new SIM from Talktalk at all, @Caroline53.

It's usually the new provider.

All you needed from Talktalk was the PAC code, surely?

Hi

Thank you for replying. I received a message on TalkTalk portal saying I had until the 21st November. I rang them 2 weeks ago requested a Pac code & a new sim. I received the Sim a couple of days later. Spent an hour on the phone with 2 different TalkTalk advisors before I was told they sent me the wrong Sim. at no time during my conversations with them did they mention the cut off date was the 31st October.
They posted a new Sim out which I received Monday. Another 45 minutes on the phone before the advisor understood I was transferring from TalkTalk to TalkMobile even though this was explained when she answered the phone.I rang them again at 09.44 yesterday morning giving them the Pac code. I was advised this can take up to 24hrs but it would be completed by Midnight. I checked this morning & my phone was showing me a different number.I rang them this morning to be told the transfer would happen by 5pm/Midnight today. I have been with TalkTalk for years but when there is a problem it seems to take them forever to sort an issue. Thank you all for taking the time to respond me my problem xx
I found an email from them which states I have until the 21st November

Hi Caroline,

We’re getting in touch to let you know that we’re closing our mobile service. We want to give you plenty of notice and help you understand your options.

On 21/11/2025, we’re closing TalkTalk mobile, and your mobile service will end meaning you will not be able to retain your number from that date unless you follow one of the options below.

@Caroline53, I have found a Talktalk notice, NOT specifying 31st October and suggesting a more phased approach [the notice was dated 3rd October on publication].

They refer to there being a specific date mentioned in your email, and I have seen mention of eg 15th November for some people elsewhere. So what actual date were you given?

@Caroline53, there's usually very little that forum staff can do regarding mobile support - there's a notice to that effect at the top of this message board. [Grey notice by a former member of staff.]

If you ring 03451 720044 you may get through to the Mobile support team [or choose the option from the selection on 03451 720088].

This AI response doesn't look promising:

Hi @Caroline53 is this move in response to talk mobile ceasing at the end of October?

It looks as though if the move to another supplier didn't happen by that deadline the talktalk number was lost.

Your post has been escalated and you should hear soon
