Often rated one of the friendliest places to live in the UK and voted Best Place to Live 2018 by The Sunday Times, York is a truly brilliant place to live. Amongst the history, beauty and innovation, what really makes York so special are the local communities.
During our city wide full fibre roll out, we’ve been lucky to have had the chance to get involved with various community projects, meet some truly inspiring people along the way and had the honour of witnessing first-hand how these brilliant people are in action.
We’ve been blown away by the care and effort York residents put in behind the scenes to make a positive difference to their local communities, whether they’re caring for the environment or supporting neighbours and friends.
We have felt like a part of the York community since we began our Community Programme work back in 2017 and have been so proud of the projects we have been able to help with so far, including working with partners to provide and Information Hub in Burnholme to offer guidance and advice to those in need. Other projects we have been particularly proud of are the transformation of an outside play area at Foxwood Community Centre for children to be able to have fun in a safe space and helping boost Hob Moor Primary School’s curriculum by providing Chromebooks to make digital learning more accessible and get children excited about education.
We love not only supporting the small communities within York but being able to support York on a city-wide basis too, having been involved with some of the fantastic events York has to offer including York Pride, York Press Business Awards and Bloom! We have recently just celebrated our third year of supporting York Balloon Fiesta. As we’ve been there since the event began in 2017 we’ve had such a fantastic opportunity to watch the event grow into a bigger and better event with each coming year and we’ve met some truly inspiring people along the way.
