Hi
I recently received an Email from TalkTalk saying my contract was due to end.
I did my usual, spent a not inconsiderable amount of time researching the offers available across networks.
I then log into my account to compare what I have, only to discover my contract has nearly FOUR months left to run !
To quote "What's Occurring" ?
Regards
Paul

Honestly, I would leave it just now, unless you have seen an offer so much better that it will compensate for the early termination penalty you would need to pay TalkTalk.
Personally, I would wait until you are within 30 days of the end of your current contract and then call, rather than chat to the retentions/loyalty/better value time directly on 0345 172 5157.

I was on chat twice, 30 and 45 minutes. Unfortunately they both just repeated the original poor offer.
I'm just getting fed up with the whole 'dance'.
At least with a new provider you know what your getting in terms of cost, no silly negotiating.

@Theshed, it's worth trying via Chat.
Sometimes if you can upload a link to the better competitive offers you have seen, they magically find you something better.

I am very sorry to hear this @Theshed.

I have agreed to their offer, but as I mention it is not as good as others, and they have not kept previous promises.
I'm sure you don't ned me to point out that other providers are offering Gift Cards in addition to reduced prices making TT very uncompetitive.
So, yes I am still looking to switch.
Thanks for your interest.

I am very sorry to hear that. Just to confirm they still did not have the deal you wanted?

Basically they have no clue !
Very poor service. I called 0345 172 0088, Fifteen minutes wasted trying to convince me that the offer already made was the best available.
Twenty more minutes of toing and froing got me a reasonable deal. Though not as good as competitors.
I agreed as the phone line offer is one of the best, but will spend my cooling off period looking for an alternative.
Wife is a Nurse and needs to be contactable, I asked about the Back up Power supply I was promised 18 months ago. The handler, sounding pretty fed up at this point denied all knowledge.
Sorry to say, but if I can find a competitor with a decent landline offer, I'm off.

Let them know you have called before so you just want to confirm if you can get the offer. Thanks

Thanks, I am going to call shortly, for a last ditch attempt to stay with Talktalk.
I just hope the person I speak to doesn't keep talking for half an hour then say they can't do better ! 😖

Please let me know if there's any help you might need from me. Thanks

Yes, I have found some great offers and plan to compare SKY and Cuckoo looks very good.
on 05-08-2025 09:06 AM
Really sorry about that, are you still looking for a better deal? Thanks
on 05-08-2025 09:03 AM
Yes, you are right. I did initially agree to the offer in the phone call. But caught unaware I wasn't upto date with the market.
The frustrating part is the call handler reassuring you that they can help, and half an hour later telling you they can't improve on that deal ! 🤔

When I have renewed I've set aside hours, and then sometimes tried on another day too, @Theshed.
It's rather ridiculous as if your time costs money, are we really saving the difference across a year, if it takes so long?
But I have found there to be different deals / nuances of the deal that were worth the effort.
At least doing it in person you can make sure there are no unwanted extras in there, which is what tends to happen if you just accept an online / emailed deal.

Quick update.
I did receive a call from TT offering a 'great deal' if I renewed. Turns out it was not so great, and actually quite bad !
I will give the above number a call before I jump ship, but to be honest I am pretty fed up with them.
Between 'calls and online chat I have wasted over two hours talking to people who offer me great deals, then end with telling me they they can't improve on the first. 🙄

@Theshed I have had a look into your account and the contract end date is 22/10/2025.
on 24-07-2025 04:04 PM
Well.
I am somewhat confused, still.
I have logged in and checked my account. It states that I am out of contract but will remain on the same terms.
However, the same page tells me my contract end date is 22/10/2025 ?

Hi
No, nothing about a new Router, but not sure why I would need a new one anyway.
The Email did promise a better deal, but it wasn't very good to be honest.
My contract not due til near end of October, so I will leave it a while.
Thanks for the response. I will be saving those contact details.

Hi,
Did you recently receive an email offering you a new router for £80?
If so, I understand TalkTalk are offering customers with less than 4 months to run the opportunity to renew early and as part of renewal request a new router be included, which I understand will be free if you re-contract.
If you didn't, it appears that TalkTalk may now be offering the opportunity to re-contract early.
Either way, renewals and pricing cannot be dealt with on the forum, and the best prices are held by the Loyalty Team (also known as the Better Value Team),so give them a call to discuss what is on offer, and if you did receive the router email be sure to get a new one included.
Try phoning 0345 172 0088

If you could take a minute to reply regarding your circumstances and outcome it would be nice to know how TalkTalk are approaching renewals now.
Thank you.
