I changed provider from TalkTalk on 24/4/25. I still have not received my final bill. Nor packaging to return the router box. I am now connected to an EE router. My next direct debit payment will be taken by talktalk on 16/5/25. All attempts via talk messaging have not answered my problem. I have spoken to EE who assure me they have initiated the switch. I will cancel my direct debit on 15/5/25 as I fear more money than I owe will be taken.

You won't get a final bill until two months after your billing cycle ends. Any adjustments in your favour can be refunded after that. I wouldn't cancel your DD in the meantime.
