Can't Port Forward 80 on DG8041W router

Hi

I'm trying to port forward port 80 on my router but I get the message

"The Configured port conflicts with the internal service port"

Looking at other posts on here it seems like it's an issue with the DG8041W router and I'd have to request to change my router, how would I do that?

Thanks

Hi

I've tested out the sagemcom router and that works great and solves my issues.

I'll send the first router back in the returns bag.

Thanks for all the help.

Hi jimfinity

Thanks for your reply.

The router is on its way, please allow 24-48hrs for this to arrive.

Let us know how the connection compares with this router.

Thanks

Hi Michelle

Yes that sounds great. Hopefully the alternative router solves this for me.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks. Would you like us to send a different router for testing purposes to see how this compares? We would also send a router returns bag so that one of the routers can be returned.

Thanks

Hello,

Can you please update your community profile to include your:

  • Name

  • Telephone number

  • Alternative contact number

  •

We'll then look into this further. Please do not post this information on this thread. Once you've updated your profile please post in your topic to confirm it's updated.

Thanks

Thanks @KeithFrench unfortunately I'm trying to use letsencrypt and certbot to generate certificates and I've not found a method that works without port 80.

Can I request the change of router model here or do I need to contact Talktalk support another way?

Thanks

Hi @jimfinity,

I have requested a change to the firmware in this router to allow for this & some other ports. You have two ways to get around this, one is to use a different external port & translate this to port 80 internally:-

external port: 9080

internal port: 80

protocol: TCP

This will work if connections being made from the internet to your device append port 9080 on the end of the WAN IP address, or DDNS domain like this:-

http://yourddnsdomain.com:9080

The other way is to ask TalkTalk if they will swap the router out for a Sagemcom WiFi hub, which has an almost identical specification but will allow all such ports to be forwarded.
