Unable to access https:/www. national-lottery.co.uk.

Error message

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.national-lottery.co.uk. PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR

Error code: PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem.

This started about a week ago. Got an error message saying that I am not in the uk (which I am) then the Secure Connection Failed error every time.

I have tried all the fixes I have found in google, cleared cache, cookies, site data etc, rebooted my router but same error every time. Have turned off firewall in Norton 360 but nothing helps.

Any advice weould be very much appreciated.

No other problems accessing any other web pages.

Hi @argchichester,

No problem at all — thank you for letting me know.

When you’re back online, just post an update here and we’ll continue from where we left off.

@ferguson  I will do that right now and come back later. Unfortunately I don't have a smart phone or any other means to connect to the internet.

Many thanks Tony

Thank you for sharing that updated error message @argchichester . Are you using a VPN or location-changing software? A VPN can make websites think you’re outside the UK, which may cause them to refuse the connection. Could you confirm whether you are using any VPN or proxy service on your devices?

Thank you @ferguson

@argchichester Please try the above suggestion and also could you confirm whether you’re using a VPN or any software that changes your online location?

@Mandisa-TTNo,

The connection has timed out

An error occurred during a connection to www.national-lottery.co.uk.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.

@argchichester

Assuming you are not using using a VPN, try turning off your router at the mains for a full 30 muntes before turning it back on again. This should reset the session and give you a new IP address. Give the site another go after that. Or for expediency, try connecting to your smartphone hotspot temporarily, or use the National Lottery app on there.

Hi @argchichester

Thank you for the update — that’s really helpful information. Just to confirm that you are still unable to access now.

@Mandisa-TTThank you so much.

I have been talking to National Lottery  support service chat line..

Their location software is assuming that I am not in the UK. "Please contact your ISP and ask them to update the registration of your IP address to show you are in the UK"

Thank you for checking that for me. Since there are no ad‑blockers or privacy extensions installed, we’ll continue working through this together.

How to check if an ad‑blocker is enabled in Firefox

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click the three horizontal lines (menu) in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Add-ons and themes.
  4. On the left, click Extensions.
  5. Look through the list for anything related to:
    • AdBlock / Adblock Plus
    • uBlock Origin
    • Privacy Badger
    • Ghostery
    • Any extension mentioning “privacy”, “tracking protection” or “blocking”
