I was on fiber 35 and was getting about 32gbs, I've just upgraded to Fiber 65 but only get between 38 & 42 GBS, pretty disappointed but is this normal?

I have just physically switched off every other device in the house so that it is just my desktop connected and I was getting 28mb.  I also note that the router line speed seems to be the speed it had when it first connected as this seems to stay exactly the same between resets.  However, I am getting varied results at my desk top despite this being the only piece of electronics in the house that's switched on.

Over the years I've had very similar issues and after much back and forth you send an OpenReach engineer who finds no fault in the laine or in the house but he then goes to look at the exchange and miraculously my line speed improves as does its stability so I'm as sure as I can be that the issue is at the exchange.

Hi Debbie

2/2/2022 I have switched off my router for 30 minutes but my speed check is still slow, 40-42.

3/2/2022 I checked my speed again this morning and found that it was 28-30 despite the router telling me it is getting 51.  There was nothing else running in my house at the time.

See below TT Speed Check screen

Hi macgd016

Thanks for confirming your details.

The predicted speed range for your line is showing between 61.8 and 55.6mb, with a guaranteed minimum speed of 50.1mb.

Your line is currently in sync at 51.8mb.

Please can you power down your router for a full 30 minutes and then run another speed test?

Thanks

Debbie

Hi macgd016

I'm just sending you a Private Message to confirm some details so I can check/confirm the predicted speed range for your line.

Thanks

It's normal if you were getting speeds well below 40Mbps on the Fibre35 package, @macgd016

They should never have sold you an upgrade with statistics like that.

What did they guarantee as the minimum speed and estimated speed at point of sale?

Staff will advise further during the day.
