For several years my router has worked very well connected to an extension socket. Suddenly it will not connect to the internet via this socket although the landline phone still works from this socket. The router will only connect via the master socket. Can any one pass on any ideas please

Thanks

Hi @sophjoshblue

I'm sorry to hear this.

Have you tried with a different microfilter?

Things do sometimes go wrong between the master socket and the extension socket [and the extension socket counts as your own wiring, so not Openreach's responsibility, on your side of the faceplate].

I had a similar experience, when I'd had loss of connection and the engineer said it was likely something in the extension wire.

In my house the extension wire is built into the fabric of the house and cannot be repaired, so ever since then my router has been plugged into the mastersocket.

Very inconvenient, as there's no room for the computer beside the router by the mastersocket.

Staff will be on here during the day and may run a test, but anything just to the mastersocket will probably show no fault.

Check back on here during the day.
