Hello had full fibre for a while now and ever since had a ping of around 60 download and 150ms upload on a empty line.

On previous ADSL line I had around 10ms down and 12ms upload.

The ridiculous high ping is impossible to game on I need my like tweaked or will have to go the long route to end the contract.

Setup very simple eero pro 6 ethernet to Chromebook and ps5 same results on both I can manipulate the ping with qos however this makes no difference to gaming when the line is clearly struggling

Any help appreciated

Hi Jonesc93

Can you run a couple of pings and traceroutes to www.google.co.uk and PM me the results - Run a Ping or Traceroute - TalkTalk Help & Support

Thanks
Chris

Have tested through the ont still get 90ms download and 140ms upload. It plays slightly better probably due to no firewall or router to go through but the latency is still insane

Morning,

No problem 🙂 No, you just connect the device wired to the ONT.

Thanks

Sorry not had a chance to test this yet due to new born but I will get around to it asap. When I connect to the ont is it straight forward or will I need to use specific IP and DNS or will it still give me one from the ont?

Good morning,

Thanks for the update. Is it possible to connect wired to the ONT to see how the connection compares in this set up?

Hello Chris been busy but walked the dog and newborn today so while I was out I turned the ont off was off for a good 45 mins plus. Turned it all back on and still get the same ping times. With a gaming router I can use QoS to bring them down to around 25ms ping but that still seems really high for fttp I also don't like my gaming routers QoS as it's not very good. (To note these pings are also happening on the eero pro 6 router I use the gaming router for geo filtering). Surly from what I see people's ping when on fttp is around 10ms or less mine is still around 5o to 70 download and 160ms upload if not higher as it will jump to 300 sometimes

I have done this once before with no luck I can try again but I don't think it will make much difference. I've seen posts regarding this which is why I've made the account to try and get the line fixed. I never thought I'd get such terrible ping on fttp.

It really does mess with gaming and although I have a gaming router to hand I don't use the QoS on that as it seems to be broken (netduma issue) but when I run a line test on that router it still pings download at 60 and upload at 160

No problem. Line test looks OK, could you switch the ONT and router off and leave them off for at least 30 minutes, then switch back on and retest

Thanks
