My new router  cost me 80.00 .because my old one would not do updates. First  time in 15 years been charged  for  a router

Hi @MARK1966 I recognize that the charge was unexpected, however, @Gliwmaeden2 is right; a router is not chargeable if it is faulty. Additionally, charges may not apply in cases of upgrades or recontracting, but only if the router is included as part of that upgrade or recontract.

They seem to be charging for these unless you are in the last 4 months of your contract, @MARK1966.

 

Routers are only replaced for free if the current one is faulty and best done via the forum as sometimes other support applies a delivery charge. 

 

Talktalk was legally required to inform you that the router would not be updated, but if it hadn't developed a fault, the replacement was not essential.
