Slow upload speed...

I've only begun noticing this, but while my download speeds are around 35Mbs, my upload speed is 3.4Mbs.

Can this be improved? I've restarted my router, as well as tested it with a hardline, as well as over wifi.

Hi ukbeachbum

I'm really sorry again about this.

You would only benefit from Fibre 65 with increased speeds if your line was already syncing at the full 40mb.

If you do experience any further issues then please let us know.

Thanks again.

I’ve spoken to the Loyalty team, and they really want me to have Fibre 65 because….it’s faster. After explaining alllllll the correspondence I’ve had about the issue, he begrudgingly renewed me on Fibre 35. Don’t get me wrong, I’d take the faster speeds, but I guess I’ll have to wait until my copper line is upgraded to full fibre.

Thanks again.

Hi ukbeachbum

Thanks for confirming your details.

I've checked and the predicted speed range for your line is showing between 34.9 and 31.4mb, with a guaranteed minimum speed of 28.3mb.

I'm really sorry that you were advised that the speed would double. If your line was not syncing at the full 40mb previously then the speed would not increase any further. Based upon your predicted speeds and current sync speed, this is within the range for your line.

If you contact our Loyalty Team then they can discuss changing your package, apologies again for this.

Hi Debbie,

Download speeds are back to 34 or so. I think this mornings slow test results were because my upstairs desktop computer was downloading a large update and I didn't know it was doing that. Or maybe it was something else...who knows, but they're back to normal now.

I would like to know more about my "new" package though, like how fast it'll really be and when it might actually start.

Thanks

Hi ukbeachbum

I'm really sorry to hear this.

I'm just sending you a Private Message to confirm some details so I can check the predicted speed range for your line.

I will also check the line sync speed.

Thanks

Hi there,

To be honest, not exactly. After running four speed tests his morning, at the moment my upload speeds are around 8, which is ok, but my download speeds are barely reaching 20.

This is in addition to me renewing my contract on the 9th, and me basically being upsold from my Fibre 35 to Fibre 65. (This new package hasn’t kicked in yet, btw. When will that happen?) The agent renewing me “100% guaranteed” I’d get double my speed, but when he sent the contract through, the speeds I could expect quoted on the contract were exactly what I’d expect on Fibre 35…34-38Mbps. So what exactly am I paying more for?

Ah yes, it does. My bad. It's working regardless.

Hi

Perfect thank you. When the face plate is removed, can you connect the filter to the small test socket (in the middle above where the wires are)

Hi ukbeachbum

Would it be possible to post a photo of your master socket on this thread?

I couldn't actually connect the router to the test socket, with or without a filter. My Master Socket is a 5C (?) and the connections from the router cable to the socket don't match.

I was able to swap out the filter...and unless something changed after I raised the issue with yourselves, that seemed to work and my uploads speeds are back to what they were, around 8Mbps. Don't know why a filter would suddenly throttle my speeds, but there you go.

Thanks

Hi ukbeachbum

I'm sorry to hear this.

The line tests are clear. Have you tried connecting the router at the test socket for 48hrs? (without rebooting the router)

Do you have another microfilter that you can test with?
