Talk Talk blocking websites

For the past couple of weeks I've been unable to access certain websites via my Talk Talk wifi. At first, it appeared to be random, but I then realised they all had one thing in common, namely that they were  websites that would probably require age verification. The main such site I use is betfair.com, but I also use vivino.com, a wine website, and when I experimented with other betting / alcohol related websites, such as williamhill.com or carlsberg.com they were also blocked.

I therefore phoned their helpline this afternoon, and waited forever for someone to answer. They said it was because I had Scam Protection enabled in My Account. I've no idea why it had been enabled, as I certainly didn't activate it, but sure enough it was enabled. I therefore switched it off, but it didn't solve the problem.

The person I was speaking to then said she'd have to refer me to the technical team, but after 2 hours and 7 minutes (I kid you not!) my phone battery expired, and the call ended without having been answered.

I've now emailed them, but I wondered if anyone else had experienced this issue, and, if so, how did you fix it? I've said that if they haven't fixed it within 7 days I'm closing my account, as this is a total shambles, and their customer service sucks.

Morning,

It would be worth powering down the router for a full 30 minutes and then retest again please as this will reset the current session and can often resolve this type of issue.

Thanks

Michelle

Hi @Pro_Bono that's a shame, it was worth trying. The next thing to try is switching to a third party DNS, if you feel happy doing so.

Regardless your post has been escalated and the team should be in touch tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn’t tried rebooting the router, but I’ve now done so, and it’s made no difference.
