Hi,

I’ve recently received a couple of text messages about network problems. Have they legitimately been sent to me by TalkTalk?

Thanks for the image.

I'd say they were legitimate along the lines you might get from other utility companies where the electric is off or a water main is being fixed.

Sometimes these are blanket sent to all in an area that may affect some but not all.

If you get this in future, check the dashboard here which notes major outages.

Hi @fr8ys

No they’re not asking me to confirm anything, just notifying me of an issue. First one gave an eta for when issue should be sorted, this one was 12 March.  Then second one arrived yesterday saying issue has been resolved.

Think what concerned me was I wasn’t aware of any issue. Unless they’re talking about ongoing issues with emails to Sky, aol etc being rejected as spam 🤷‍♀️

I’ve attached a screenshot of the texts.

Are they asking you to confirm anything or include a link?

If so I'd be very wary of them.

There was an issue yesterday but that is now resolved and I doubt that texts were sent out about that.

Texts are sometimes sent out about upgrades to your account, i.e moving to full fibre. Sometimes these include options to reply to.

Are you changing package?

Without knowing the content and context of the text its difficult to advise.

Can you do a screen print and post it here, removing anything personal before you do?

Thank you.
