For the last two weeks, the F-Secure app has been unable to update its database, and was posting warning messages that the F-Secure database was out-of-date. So I uninstalled the SuperSafe app and then tried to reinstall it. I can download the installation package, but the installation freezes. Have rebooted computer several times. Using a MacBook running OS Catalina. No other problems with computer or installations for other software. Thanks for any help!

Thanks, that looks like a good tool. I used the F-Secure uninstaller, and binned the installer package. But I'll use the app cleaner you recommend... tomorrow! Thanks for all the help.

Ah OK, a bit stuck then. Are you sure you have cleared the last traces of the previous installation, including the installer itself? This is a great tool for totally purging applications from your Mac:

Hi --

Yes, it shows up as a normal dmg file. It downloads, the Installer window opens, and then while checking to determine whether the software can be installed, it freezes. The Installer shows up as 'unresponsive'. Maybe it's the installer. But this all started when F-Secure couldn't update its database.

What message do you get when you download and try to open what I presume is a disk image (.dmg) file?

Hi,

Many thanks for the link to the F-Secure forum.

My OS is still supported, but there are other possibilities flagged on that site. I'll follow up.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi,

There seems to be a number of reason the tool won't install.

I don't have a Mac, but here's a link to my search which may help you.

Hi -

Yes, I did use the uninstallation tool, and have just tried it again with the link you posted, for which many thanks.

Then downloaded a new copy of the app, but it still won't install. Hmmm...

Hi,

Did you use the f secure uninstallation tool as most uninstallers on computers leave so!e footprint nehimd.

This tool will clear everything so you can then do a clean install.

You can find the tool on this page.
