For queries about your TalkTalk broadband service.

We took up a voucher from the government to install broadband. I live in a rural area. We received the email from OpenReach on Nov 11 to let us know that they have provided the infrastructure in my road, which is a rural lane. Checking for packages on U-Switch, BT, Plusnet, and EE are all offering a variety of deals up to 1.6Gbps. When I check my Talk Talk account, the best package that is offered is Fibre 67. I called TT and after a very long call, was told that at present I couldn't have FTTP because it was not available. After pressing questions to a second tier supervisor, he said that their engineers have to make sure that the service is stable and delivering the right speeds. I understand that.
What I want to know is why is it taking TT so much longer to establish this that the other companies names above. The CS representative couldn't give me any time scale for the upgrade to become available. I have committed to the voucher and if a I can't upgrade they will charge me the voucher cost of £4k.
I re-contracted back in May as there were doubts about enough people taking the voucher locally, on the basis of advice from TT that I would be able to upgrade with no issues.
Can someone explain why TT is taking so long over the necessary steps to provide the service to me and my neighbours.
Thanks

@ferguson thank you.

It is not so odd when you consider that BT, Plusnet and EE are all sub-brands of the same company. So you can either choose one of them, or wait for other providers to come on board.

Talktalk never publishes estimates - different deals will have been set up with different ISPs. It's better that they are confident of delivery, rather than promising availability and not being able to keep up with demand.
Can you check what you posted as the voucher value, @Trekian?
£4k ??? Is this what you are referring to?
Many readers will not be familiar with the scheme.

It seems odd that other suppliers could provide this service within a day of the openreach notification. We are now 23 days down the line. Since I was informed that this is done remotely, why can an estimate of the availablity not be provided by the engineers to me via customer services.?

Thank you for reaching out regarding your FTTP availability. I understand how frustrating it must be to see offers from other providers while still waiting for TalkTalk.
OpenReach has confirmed the infrastructure is in place for your rural lane. However, the rollout process for our services involves several steps to ensure stability and optimal performance. This includes thorough testing by our engineers to confirm that the network can deliver the promised speeds reliably.
While I cannot speak to the specific time scales affecting other providers, I can assure you that TalkTalk is committed to providing a stable and high-quality service. Different providers may have different processes and timelines for activating new services following infrastructure installations, which can lead to variations in availability.
