Thanks @nophead, I had tried going into the Chrome settings and removing the cookies I thought might be causing it, but that hadn't worked (obviously got the wrong cookies !). I didn't realise you could blow away all the cookies related to a particular site from the padlock options at the top, I've just tried it and I can now get to the TalkTalk homepage again in Chrome. Thanks for the tip 👍

With Chrome you can delete just the cookies associated with one one site by clicking on the padlock symbol at the start of the URL.

Interesting to read this thread, I very rarely use webmail, but did so earlier this week, and as soon as I logged out of webmail I got the same problem. All I did was log out, got the screen that shows you are logged out with the countdown timer on it, then as soon as it tried to redirect me to the TalkTalk homepage I got the error. I do not use McAfee for my security software.

I haven't bothered trying to clear cookies, as I don't really want to go through the pain of logging into a million other sites again. I just used a different browser (Edge) and was able to access the TalkTalk homepage and My Account fine with that. But Chrome is now broken and I can't access the homepage or My Account due to this presumably dodgy cookie or dodgy cached data.

Tell me exactly what you do after using TalkTalk Mail.

Has McAfee set a home page? What additional features of McAfee are you using? Have you tried disabling McAfee to see if that clears the fault?

Hi lyntramp

Without knowing anything else about your setup I would diagnose that a corrupted cookie is being set when you sign out of TalkTalk Mail and the TalkTalk Sales page is presented.

First, it's good to know that you can sign in to your MyAccount following the steps I outlined.

What I like you to do is to follow those same steps but, this time, do not sign out of your TalkTalk Mail account. A sign out is not necessary if the computer / device is not shared or not a public device - unless you have multiple TalkTalk email accounts to access. Do you have more than one TalkTalk email address that mean you need to do a forced sign out and then sign in to the other email account(s)? I can give you a workaround for that circumstance.

Grateful if you could also let me know what Internet Security and Ad-Blocking / Tracker blocking software you have on your device. e.g. Kaspersky / Norton / Avast etc and any anti-malware software along with Advert blocking / Tracker Cookie blocking software.

The reason for asking is to see if there's some add-on software that's causing a conflict with the saving of cookies or if it is a corrupt TalkTalk cookie that's causing the issue.

OK, so corrupt cookies again.

Enter into the Edge address bar edge://settings/resetProfileSettings

Select the reset button

This is to delete any previous cookies and potentially corrupt pages.

Then start with the https://www.talktalk.co.uk/my/packageandservices link to login to your MyAccount.

Edge is good. Based on Chrome but the entry into the address bar is a slight variation

edge://settings/resetProfileSettings

Select the reset button

This is to delete any previous cookies and potentially corrupt pages. It will not delete the saved logins.

Then go via https://www.talktalk.co.uk/my/packageandservices to login to your MyAccount.

Which message? The technical issues message?

If using the Chrome browser then reset that. Enter into the Chrome address bar chrome://settings/resetProfileSettings

Select the reset button

This is to delete any previous cookies and potentially corrupt pages.

Then start with the https://www.talktalk.co.uk/my/packageandservices link to login to your MyAccount.
