Is anyone aware of changes to the protocols as the port forwarding for my cctv (working for several years with no issues) has suddenly stopped working this week.

The TCP & UDP Protocols have not changed, which requires an industry-wide amendment to them. What is far more likely (unless you use DDNS) is that your WAN IP address on the router has changed.
Which make/model of router are you using?
