router my great grandson has ask about moving the router into his bedroom, as he needs to plug into the router  . I don't really want to do that , as the telephone connection is where  it is all fixed to. Is there an alternative, and what would be the cost.

Hi veron2

As Gliwmaeden2 has mentioned, you could have an extension socket fitted in a different room.

People often had secondary sockets in another room in the past, but if there's any fault in the wiring between the master socket and another socket, you'd end up paying engineer charges as the fault wouldn't be on Openreach's side of the master socket.

It's expensive to actually move the master socket:

Is it worth going to all that trouble?

In the not so distant future that master socket will be redundant, as full fibre will need to be brought to the house.

However that brings further consequences for using the telephone  - one plug in phone fits into the back of the router, etc. All change, @veron2.
