Any idea how long before emails are going to be coming through - really need to access various messages now - service status reveals little

Also, are there new settings I'm supposed to be implementing which I knew nothing about whatsoever before this malarkey - or will my previous service be restored.

I was not pre-advised to take any mitigating steps in terms of protecting emails as necessary or that my email service was altering with likely disruption so am quite incensed by situation at this point.

Fair play - hope you'll concur it may create confusion, however ; )

I have the responsibility for elevating his topic to a sticky post.

He's a new member and as such was making a good go of helping other members. Members faced with using secure encryption settings for the first time after ignoring previous TalkTalk advice and then loss of access other than via webmail.

Great, thanks

What is confusing is at top of my email page here I have this NickCox99 message marked for 'anyone who has lost access to their emails . . ' and steps thereafter

I had lost access to my emails - he refers to encryption issues hence I put 2 and 2 together. If his message isn't accurate, as I had believed it to be I wonder why it is marked with the official grey and fixed of this page - quite confusing to be honest : )

There is no new implementation of an encryption system, whatever you think that is.  Good to know your emails are back.

There is last resort action by TalkTalk to stop the use of insecure settings i.e. not using the SSL/TLS encryption protocol that TalkTalk have been using for many years now and that has been promoted by email notifications also over a period of years. Users that have consistently ignored advice to use SSL/TLS encryption on up to date email software are having their mailboxes limited to webmail access as the action of last resort to force those users to update email settings to use SSL/TLS encryption on up to date email software.

The current issue was not, as I see it, anything other than a fault condition. There is no altering of the mail service by TalkTalk. But users not using SSL/TLS encryption on up to date email software are having their mailboxes limited to webmail only access.

Great - my emails are back; have followed the steps NickCox99 mentions and put my email into my profile on top of this page but quite happy to stick with how system is, to be honest, than risk further disruption - encryption or no;

Thanks

Yes, problem with emails owing to new encryption system implementation which I think we have to re-set our settings for?

What I can't understand is why I wasn't messaged prior to works being carried out with regard to saving emails as necessary.

I knew nothing about the work or renewing my settings until I read NickCox99 message on subject at top of this page and Talktalk mentioning they would send me an SMS with details on how to amend my email settings

Make a complaint.

You know there's a problem with email. The incident is being worked on and you can track it on the  Service Status (Email) page.
