Spams/Junk incoming emails have substantially decreased.
I received my last one on 17-03-2025
However, I have just received one today, which is a real puzzle.
It has the following main headers:
From: Voicemail <abcdefghi.jklmno@talktalk.net>
To: "voice@talktalk.net" <voice@talktalk.net>
Subject: New Call Waiting
abcdefghi.jklmno@talktalk.net, represents the form of the sender's email address
The other 2 headers are, as they were received.
Now, voice@talktalk.net is NOT one of my TalkTalk email addresses.
And none of my TalkTalk email addresses appear anywhere in the header section of the email.
How did it get to my Spam folder?
And does anyone know who voice@talktalk.net is? That is a TalkTalk customer address.

I just couldn't resist with a title like that.
It was easier to work in 2001 than Major Tom.

Ah, so, 'email # 2001' is 2001: A Space Odyssey, also related to Thus Spoke Zarathustra.
That makes complete sense.
And, of course, A Spam Oddity is A Space Odyssey.

I noticed your spam report message, only after I sent my reply, @fr8ys

Thanks, @fr8ys
No, it doesn't seem to be legitimate.
I've hardly received an email where the 'To: ' address is not mine. Maybe I have never received one of those.
I have received one or two with complete absence of the 'To: ', but in that case, one of my email addresses was present, within an alternative header above the 'To: ' usual position, but unrelated to 'To: '
I think I'll probably put it in the bin, and forget about the issue.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot. What is email # 2001?
Thanks again @fr8ys

Is this email # 2001 in your spam receipts or is the content legitimate
If it's a legitimate email, then wait for support staff to give advice.
If the contents are clearly spam then the chances are it got through spam filters somehow and probably received by a number of people.
I suspect you have previously received spam where the To address is not yours. I know I have.
The sender, to me, appears clearly to be a spam address, but if not it's a compromised address.
I wouldn't stress over it.

I am really bothered with this.
The email I referred to above is addressed to voice@talktalk.net.
As I said, it's not me.
I was wondering, whether it would be a good idea, to forward it to its rightful owner.
Any ideas?
