Can't send outgoing mail

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply.

That was a typo error on my part.

My outgoing settings are smpt.talktalk.net but still showing,

Cannot send mail The username or password for mail.btinternet.com is incorrect,

is it possible that Bt is the carrier for my outgoing mail?

I have a recollection that when I moved from Pipex to Bt the outgoing server was Bt.

Other than that I fail to see why the TalkTalk server is not recognized.

Many thanks, Gondola,

For all the information.

I will increase my password to 12-15 digits.

Best regards

The settings are good but the password does not meet TalkTalk security requirements so you'll need to change and upgrade that so the outgoing server will accept the new stronger password.

The Reset password now button in the help article  Changing your email password will take you to password reset and recovery. You must use the master pipex email address not the alias address. The master address is of the form abcd12@dsl.pipex.com - an alias address will result in the 'no domain' error message.

If you have set up password recovery options, in advance for the master mailbox, that you recognise from the *****hints, then you can send your alternate email address a link or your mobile a 6-digit code to authorise a password reset.  If you haven't set up password recovery options then you can do so via webmail and the main settings menu item Update your reset details.

My recommendation is to exceed the minimum required and use a password of 12-15 multicase letters and numbers and a symbol. Created from multiple words gives an opportunity to memorise the password that, for security, needs to be unique to the mailbox.

Hi Gondola,

Please see 2x pdf containing 4 photos

The outgoing messages are now going to the outbox.

Incoming messages are OK

Webmail is OK.

I tried to change my Pipex password with TalkTalk, but no Domain was found.

Please advise for future changing of password if it is not recognized by TalkTalk.

To send pipex emails from your iPhone the Server must be set to ON and the outgoing server is smtp.talktalk.net using port 587 and SSL on and Authentication by Password using the full pipex email address as User Name and the pipex password. The User Name and password are not optional.

Foneman wrote: ...The smpt.talktalk.net server 587 for some reason is not allowing outgoing messages.

The correct TalkTalk server name is smtp.talktalk.net so what you may have entered is an incorrect server name and you have to use the TalkTalk server for pipex mail and the BT Internet server for BT Mail. You cannot send fully authenticated BT Mail from TalkTalk servers nor fully authenticated pipex mail from BT servers.

To send BT emails from your iPhone the Server must be set to ON and the outgoing server is mail.btinternet.com using port 465 and SSL on and Authentication by Password using the full BT Internet email address as User Name and the BT Internet email password. The User Name and password are not optional.

If you need the settings checked visually, take screenshots, image edit to obscure the first part of the pipex email address and upload here using the picture icon above this Reply area.

Hi Gondola,

My original question was I can't send emails from my iPhone.

I get a message that says " Bt internet username or password is incorrect "

When I moved from Pipex to Bt many years ago, my understanding was that Bt settings applied to my outgoing mail.

The smpt.talktalk.net server 587 for some reason is not allowing outgoing messages.
