Desk top icon password issue

Using the desktop icon I cannot reply to emails as it says wrong password. I share the email address with my husband and he has no problem. I,m using an iPad he’s using desktop Windows, I’ve changed my password but no difference. I can access my email in line ok but want to use the desktop icon.SUE

Not sure what you mean by the desktop icon, do you mean an email client? Does it work OK through webmail?
