Can anyone help?
How do I attach copies of old emails to a new or draft email.
Nothing seems to work.
For example I open a new email then go to the email I want to attach, drag and drop it into the body of the new email but nothing happens.
I have tried to download the email to my computer and then dragging it from there to my new email. This produces an eml file as an attachment but I don't seem to be able to read eml files.
Surely there must be an easy way to trasfer an email to a new email within the talktalk mail app

I am so sorry that you feel that way, but I understand why perfectly. It is not the atmosphere we wish to cultivate in what are intended to be support topics. Please do not let this put you off seeking further assistance if you need it in future.

Hi there, I have no wish to prolong the agony so close it down.
I will not be posting any further pleas for help as this has dented my confidence in talking to people who clearly know more than I do on the subject matter.
Thanks to everyone who treated me with courtesy and respect in trying to understand the issue I was having.

I am a total novice regarding these issues and I said earlier that I was at the limit of my understanding. Trying my best to keep up and learn as I go.
Thank you for your help in this matter but I think now is the time to move on. Did not know you had such a problem with exclamation marks

In your first post, you wrote "I have tried to download the email to my computer and then dragging it from there to my new email", from which it is not clear that you used 'Save as file'. It is only with your latest comment "Download it onto my computer (via Save As)." that you have clarified what you meant in yur first post. Hence, making the comment "This is what I stated in my original post!!!" is somewhat unjustified.
You have asked "why can't Webmail be updated to allow a direct approach to make this sort of attachment?"
There is already a direct approach for attaching an email as an eml file, i.e. use the webmail Advanced settings option to attach a forwarded email as an eml file. With that approach or saving the email as an eml file, and then dragging it into a new email in webmail, there is no option to view the eml file attachment in webmail. Neither does webmail provide a viewer for any other type of attachment.
Most users more than likely forward emails inline, so it's unlikely that webmail would be amended to allow an email to be attached by dragging it into a new email, as an additional method of attaching an eml file.
On 7 September, you wrote "I activated Microsoft Outlook yesterday.", and today you are saying that you have not managed to set up your account in Outlook.
What issue are you having with setting up your account in Outlook?
If you are using the Mail app (new Outlook), then creating a new account for email account for many domains/providers is straightforward. You just need to navigate to Accounts > Email accounts, select 'Add Account', and enter your email address and password. The settings are completed automatically.

Webmail, by definition, is browser based. So it is limited in what you can do compared to client applications. If you want to preview your .eml file before sending then check it from wherein you downloaded it.

Alright I will get back to you as well if I find any alternative method to do it okay. Thanks

Not working for me refers to problems with setting up Outlook which I have been unsuccessful for the time being.
Never used it before. I could not access my emails in Outlook. So need to try again
I do not have Microsoft 365 or any other associated products. I use OpenOffice for documents.
I will continue to try to set up Outlook
I have said earlier in my post that I click on the email I want to include. Download it onto my computer (via Save As). I can then drag it into the body of the new email as an eml file. I am not able to view it before sending it though.
This is what I stated in my original post!!!
I understand now that this is the way it is BUT why can't Webmail be updated to allow a direct approach to make this sort of attachment and avoid the Downloading, Uploading and the use of Outlook.

What @nameunknown_ just said is correct, it won't allow if you drag it as the file will be an outlook file not pdf so sending it as an attachment should work. Please try following the steps and give feedback afterwards. Thanks

I assume "Not working for me" applies to using Outlook to print the email you want to forward as an attachment. You don't say exactly what is not working for you.
Webmail and email applications support printing an email to a PDF file. In your case, you are not seeing an option to print to PDF in the print list, when you select Print in webmail, and the suggestions I have made have not resolved this. You are now appear to be saying "Not working for me" about printing using Outlook.
That leaves the option of attaching the email as a .eml file. You can do this in webmail, but not by dragging the email into a new email.
Previously I referred you to the Advanced settings option for forwarding emails as a .eml attachment. There is another way.
In webmail, select the email you want to forward by ticking the box to the left of it in the list of emails in a folder.
Next, click on the three dots on the right of the actions menu (the menu that contains Delete, Archive, Mark as spam, Set categories, Set color), and then click on 'Save as file' to save it as a .eml file to which ever folder you have set as your browser Downloads folder.
You can then drag that file into a new email in webmail. If you want to view the .eml file before attaching it, then right click on the file, click on 'Open with', and select an application, e.g. Outlook.

I'll take note of the conversation, please try that while we work on having this looked into. Thanks

Not working for me.
I have only used Webmail so it is totally unfamiliar to me.
It would be easier to print off all the required information and send it to the recipient by Royal Mail!!!!!!!!!
I still think these matters should be able to be carried out in Webmail

I have read all of the threads above and just wanted to find out how it's working with outlook as advised. Thanks

Hi there, This whole thread has originated when I discovered that I could not drag an email from Webmail to a new email in Webmail.
This would seem to be the easiest option.
Please read the previous contributor which clearly describes the problems I have with Webmail and his suggestions.
I am currently looking to set up my email account in Outlook where everything looks much easier
I think that Webmail should be updated to allow for emails to be attached to new emails and for eml attachments to be previewed to check that they have been created correctly.
Ideally everything to do with emails should be able to be done easily within Webmail

Hi there @Soloman13, please confirm how things went and if everything was resolved. If not will just pick up from where y'all left off. Thanks

How do you know all this??????
I like the sound of your last paragraph and will pursue this further.
Outlook is new to me as I have never used it before but this sounds the best option going forward.
Different Print screens seems odd. Again I have not experienced problems with printing documents until it comes to Webmail documents and attachments but I will get there. I do not give up until I resolve the issue.
Thanks to all for your contributions to my post. I have learned a lot

@Soloman13 wrote:I cannot attach any document to a new email in TalkTalk Webmail.
Files on your device can be attached to an email in webmail by dragging them into the email you are composing, or by using the paperclip at the bottom of the 'New email' window.
You cannot drag an email from webmail into an email you are composing in webmail. However, you can choose to forward an email either inline (a common way of doing so), or as an attachment. I provided details about the attachment setting in webmail here:

@Soloman13 wrote:It still cannot be read by me at this point.
I then did as suggested and sent it to myself.
It arrived in my Inbox and now I can click View and read it!!!!!!
In webmail, if you include a forwarded email as a .eml attachment to a new message, there is no view option for the .eml attachment in the 'new email' window. As a result, you cannot check that the .eml has been correctly created. The view option is only there if you receive an email with a .eml attachment.
@Soloman13 wrote:However, I cannot print it off with the options available to me!
I CAN print it off from my PC now that I activated Microsoft Outlook yesterday.
The print to PDF option is not available from the TalkTalk Webmail.
However when printing information from the internet , it is a different print screen and the Print to PDF option is available!
To me the issue is a TalkTalk Webmail problem.
When you select Print in webmail, the print window that you see is the print window for your browser, so if you are not seeing 'Microsoft Print to PDF' in the list, although you see it in the list when printing from other applications, then the issue is related to the browser, not webmail, as you suggest.
If you have set up your email account in Microsoft Outlook, then rather than use both the application and Outlook, why not just use Outlook?
In Outlook, you can select the email that you want to forward, and print it to a PDF file, then attach that file to your new email, and the job is done.

Yes that's right assuming the recipient has the software to do it. I couldn't do it through Webmail. I needed Outlook before I could read it and that was after downloading it and then bringing it back. Maybe everybody has outlook. Maybe they use a different mail client and have no problems I don't know. All I know is that I did not use outlook myself until yesterday and I could not read it or print it through Webmail.

Look, if you can read the .eml attachment on receipt then so should anyone else you may send it to. Isn't that the point and all you need? I think the rest is just overcomplicating things!
