I don't usually spend much time in these forums unless I have a problem. Which I do at the moment. And which has (temporarily, I hope) locked me out of my account for the moment because the login system can't seem to recognise the secure access codes it insists I request.

I'm actually a bit late to the party, but I'm trying to follow the advice from fry8s re associating my email addresses with my Broadband Account. I can get at my emailed bills, so I know my 10 digit account number. What I don't seem to have is anywhere to input it to my profile because there is no entry for Accouht Number. There are two possible fields, Singleview and Customer, but they both appear to be greyed out.

I need to get into my account to check what email address details it still holds for me, and I need a profile field to take my account number.

Any advice will be gratefully received.

@ferguson  Thanks for that. I'm out for a while this morning but I'll check my failing account against it later today.

I would still like advice on where I should go to make changes to email settings. At the moment, for me, it's certainly not in mailbox manager, so I'm thinking probably My Account still.

@Thabile-TT I put that in my last post. All three are Android, just not all the the same version

@Thabile-TT As per an earlier posting here, I use either

Android 16 tablet

Android 16 phone

Android 13 phone (no sim card)

depending on which is nearest when I want to check my emails.

Is this a problem?

I don't own a laptop or gaming console.

Your email addresses should stay as they are, but you should use use talktalk.net in the server settings.

I finally got round to looking at my email app settings.

My jxxxxo@lineone.net account uses IMAP & SMTP servers mail.talktalk.net & smtp.talktalk.net

No doubt because it's been untouched for longer than I can remember

my sxxo@lineone.net account uses IMAP & SMTP servers mail.lineone.net.net & smtp.lineone.net

Both usernames work in my email app on all three devices, but is this of itself enough to cause problems with sxxo@lineone.net in webmail?

If so, where should I go to correct it? If not, there are two other anomalies

ie                               jxxxxo@lineone.net                                sxxo@lineone.net

smtp security type           TLS                           v                             SSL (Accept all certificates) and

SMTP Port                              587                          v                            465

Should I correct all these differences?

@durdle, if it was after hours [5pm] it wouldn't be picked up yet.

You're forgiven, but how am I supposed to demonstrate that my internet access works? Not by just saying it does?

We are going to run some tests for you to identify the cause of this p0roblem, our system will go through various questions and attempt to resolve this for you, to start off:

Can you check your TalkTalk Internet access for me now and let me know if it works? You can do this by trying to reload the site or application you were experiencing problems with or trying to search for something on the Internet. Thanks

I've sent you a pm with the screenshot attached. I would attach it here, but I wouldn't want to advertise my account names. It includes the spurious Jxxx.xxxxe@lineone.net. As I said near the beginning of this thread, I suspected a bad setting in sxxo@lineone.net, but if there was one, why can I open the account on my new phone?

Incidentally, does anyone ever actually give direct answers to questions posted in these forums, or is it TalkTalk policy to avoid that at all costs? Just wondering.

Can you please send us a screenshot of the ! character in a white triangle and if there is any error message you see when you hover/ click on it

I think that what you are suggesting is that I should log in to mailbox manager and deactivate, then reactivate, the account . Before I do that, however, can I just ask about the third account, Jxxx.xxxxe@lineone.net, showing in webmail on my tablet, also with a marker, a ! character in a white triangle? I can't  deactivate this in mailbox manager, because it isn't shown there; it's an account I created there last week before I fully comprehended that I could create new usernames but not then make use of them.
