Ask us about your TalkTalk email account and Webmail.

I have several Pipex accounts. My wife's was one of those affected by today's outage (which actually started last night). It has just come back, shortly after 16:00, with four emails arriving by Live Mail. However, by this time of day she would have expected quite a few more. There are no more in Webmail, which appeared to be empty during the outage. Will any that should have arrived this morning be lost forever, or may they appear later?

Or even Windows latest inbuilt client?

WLM does not support TLS 1.2 that should be the only secure protocol enabled in Windows Internet settings because all other protocols are deprecated.
WLM also does not support STARTLS commands that are used with port 587 and outgoing mail authentication by Username and password.
You're going to find out when TalkTalk switch off access to the mailbox because of continued use of insecure settings.
So you might as well choose an up to date email client like Thunderbird or BlueMail for example.

Honestly? It is out of date. It happens. Changing clients is only a wee bit of hassle. I used to love Entourage for Mac, but it became defunct. As has WLM.

At the moment I think there are still some emails missing.

I made the necessary changes last August within the requested timeframe when TalkTalk sent out the reminder letters, updating the OS on both our computers with registry entries to enable TLS 1.2. The internet options show that SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 are disabled and TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 are enabled. The Live Mail front end only refers to SSL, but TLS is in use. I am using ports 587 and 993 with authentication as required. These are also in use on our Apple devices. I have had no problems since August. Are you saying that this shouldn't work?

There's no indication that inbound mail was not buffered and therefore should reach the destination mailbox.
Why is Windows Live Mail still in use? That's an inherently insecure mail client and does not support secure mail encryption to the TLS 1.2 standard required for TalkTalk Mail. Continued use will get the mailbox locked to webmail only access.
