You should only use smtp.talktalk.net all others are defunct now.

Ady - Could the problem be because the main outgoing server for emails on my phone is smpt.tiscali.co.uk whereas the second option is smpt.talktalk.net. Would it be better for the main server to be the talktalk one

Hi Arkle1942, what error message are you getting when you send to Canada? Are you having trouble sending to any other addresses?
