Ask us about your TalkTalk email account and Webmail.

Hi,
I have a problem where a lot of my incoming emails are being sent to the spam folder. None of these are actually spam. I have Thunderbird set up on my computer to collect my mail from Talktalk but it will only get mail from the Talktalk inbox. I keep having to log into talktalk webmail just to move my mail from Spam to Inbox.
Can you either fix your spam filtering or disable it please?

Yes, that;s correct. Essentially, it appears that rules only get applied to the Inbox. My rule as you suggested does work when you invoke it manually because it then asked you which folder you would like to run it on. But it seems that you can't select a different folder permanently. And that is the only rule I have.

Hi, @aircraft
That 'Apply', one wouldn't use. It would be, if you wanted to change the emails to all go to Spam folder instead of to all go to Inbox folder.
So, are you saying that,
___
click 'Add condition' and click 'From' and enter '@' in the text box.
click 'Add action' and click 'File into'. The folder will already be selected to 'Inbox'
click 'Save'
---
it let's all your usual spam, as usual, into the Spam folder?
In that case, we can't rely on much, can we?
By the way, is that your ONLY rule, in the rules?

Oh well, it did seem a better workaround than the one I suggested.
You'll have to chase this up further with the support staff on this forum starting tomorrow.

It would appear not. Each time you apply the rule, it asks you which folder to run it on. If during the definition of the rule I could specify which folder to run it on, I would home and dry. Or if the rule was run on all incoming email rather than a folder as was originally suggested. But it appears that rules only get run on the Inbox.

Once you have applied it to the SPAM folder, I would have thought that was it. The rule should now work all the time, from SPAM to your Inbox. However, I can't test this, as I am not suffering from the problem.

Ah, I'm sorry to say that creating a rule to solve this problem doesn't appear to work.
When you go to the Rules section in settings it says "Rules provide you with the power to effortlessly organise and streamline your email inbox". So it seems rules are only automatically executed on the inbox. Strangely, if you go to settings and click "Apply" rule it then asks you which folder you would like to apply the rule to. I can manually select Spam and it works. But I can't see any way to make this happen automatically.
Snookered again!

Yes, from my computer. So far, so good!

Thank you. When you get asked questions you can forget it’s public.

I assume you did this on your computer, via webmail.
It just shows, that it does matter what device one uses.

I have belatedly removed the email addresses you posted earlier. You should never put such information on what is a public forum.

Top marks @Billx, that sounds like a much better workaround than Access Lists.

Excellent Billx!
I had tried to do this from the phone version of the site but it only seems to have the options for Vacation notice and Auto Forward not Add new rule. I've set it up as you suggested so let's hope it works!
Many thanks!

Hi, @aircraft
To achieve what you want, You can create a new rule within TalkTalk webmail,
Go to webmail --> Click the Cogwheel at top right --> click 'All settings' --> scroll down until you see 'Rules'
click Rules --> click 'Add new rule'
click 'Add condition' and click 'From' and enter '@' in the text box.
click 'Add action' and click 'File into'. The folder will already be selected to 'Inbox'
click 'Save'
This should put everything into your Inbox.

Well, the email address that I usually use is *removed for security*. All email to tsoft.co.uk is forwarded to *removed for security*. I tell you all thay because I guess you are not interested in the talktalk.net bit since I imagine most talktalk customers are the same?

Could you please tell me the last part of your email address? This is the section after the @ symbol.

I understand, the questions that I am asking you are part of the checks that I am conducting, and these are questions that the system want to know so that we can get to a resolution.

iOS 18.4.1 on iphone and Windows 10 on PC.
But you asking me about operating systems shows me that you don't understand my problem.
To restate, when email for me arrives at talktalk's email server, legitimate emails are being placed in the Spam folder. That is without any interaction from me. I want talktalk to stop doing that and just put all my email in the inbox. This either requires a fix to spam filtering or to switch off spam filtering for all the mail boxes on my account.
Do you understand that?

Since the OP is using a PC, I would assume the OP is using a later version of Windows, which automatically updates itself to the latest version.

Can you tell me the version of the operating system on your devices used?

I access the Talktalk webmail with my iphone. I download emails to my PC with Thunderbird. But the problem is mail going to the talktalk webmail spam folder. Unless I manually move those emails to the talktalk inbox, my PC can't download them.
Thanks.
