Repeated Spams

Here is the header section of one of my incoming spam emails:

( my comment is right at the end.)

---

REMOVED FOR SECURITY, see relpy

The above were obtained using 'View source' in TalkTalk Webmail

Does anyone know whether . . .*** are TalkTalk partners.

I've had quite a few spams from them.

Usually '***' appears there also.

Usually '***' as the sender appears there also.

I have forwarded very similar emails in the past to phishing@talktalk.co.uk, and report@phishing.gov.uk

Suspect emails purporting to come from TalkTalk should be forwarded. Any other spam should be marked as such. That is the process you should follow. It is not easy to clamp down on these things as I am sure we are all aware.

Yes, OK. I'm not trying to attack anyone.

I have forwarded various suspect emails in the past to phishing@talktalk.co.uk, and report@phishing.gov.uk

Today, one of those suspect emails couldn't get delivered via forwarding.

So I used the procedure in the article, saving the suspect email first and then attaching it. That was equivalent.

Thanks,

Bill

@Billx I don't intend to get involved in long protracted discussions with you on this, as you normally wish to do.

Reporting these on the forum in the way you have done Is Not the way to report these mails to TalkTalk.

Staff here will not be able to deal with it and we are advised that whenever anyone queries a spam mail purporting to come from TalkTalk to refer the customer to the correct means of reporting such mails.

These instructions have been reinforced to us Community Stars in recent days so this is what I have done. No Exceptions.

We also delete headers whatever format or information they may contain. Again, No Exceptions.

As far as I am concerned this is the end of the matter and would request you follow the instruction as they are given, if you wish to report such spam. You will not get any feedback on your reports.

Staff here do not get any feedback from the tech people on this, and its inevitable that spammers find a way round restrictions in place, and it's a never ending case of catchup to block such mails.

@fr8ys

That article says 'If you've received a phishing email claiming to be from TalkTalk, Report it to us straight away.'

The thing is, there are other emails which might be phishing emails, and which do not claim to be from TalkTalk.

You're not suggesting that TalkTalk is not interested in those?

The particular email referred above, has been reported to TalkTalk before, more than once.

It seems no action had been taken. That's why I included the header section details, in case someone more knowledgeable had any more info.

The header section details are fully text with no links, so they are fully safe in a thread.

Hi,
TalkTalk have requested that spam mail be reported to them.
How to do this can be found here
https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Phishing-emails-amp-everything-you-need-to-know/ta-p/30....

I'm deleting the info you have posted as the teams will be able to extract that themselves.

Anything that is sent by TalkTalk will have a TalkTalk address.

Thank you.
