Logging in to one of my e-mail address - which works fine - I get a message 'Error The provided login data to access e-mail server imap.tiscali.co.uk seems to be wrong. please correct them'
'Seems to be wrong' How can they 'Seem to be wrong' surely they are either 'wrong' or 'right' ? 'Please correct them' is not a useful instruction Where ? How ? I have spent several hours trying but simply cannot find any login data to correct Where is it please ? I contacted online help and was on the line for over an hour when they claimed to have 'updated' my info but nothing has changed and the error message keeps appearing. I would like to simply delete this particular e-mail address but another message says this can't be done at the moment!

Your mailbox is not yet migrated to the new look platform.
So, in your case:

I've logged in to my primary email address. there is no cog icon top right but three horizontal lines under each other which shows as Settings. Clicking on this produces a menu. This Menu contains Settings but not 'All settings' Clicking on Settings produces a page : 'Basic Settings' which contains nothing relevant and offers no routes to anything further.
I note the correct settings data you've supplied and will enter this once I can get to my current settings

Ah, you have an added secondary email account in your primary webmail login.
Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail
Enter your full TalkTalk Mail primary email address, select Continue and enter the password, select Sign in.
Server Type | IMAP |
Account name | Your choice |
Email address | The added Email address |
Incoming server name | mail.talktalk.net |
Connection Security | SSL/TLS |
Server port | 993 |
Username | The added Email address |
Password | The added Email's password |
Outgoing server (SMTP) name | smtp.talktalk.net |
Connection Security | STARTTLS |
Server Port | 587 |
Outgoing Authentication | As incoming e-mail server |
When you've entered the details of the added email account and double checked then select the blue Save button.
NB if you just wish to remove the added secondary email account form the primary login then just select the X icon to the right of the row for the account and confirm deletion. This doesn't delete the mailbox just removes it as an added email account. You'll be able to sign in to each account via webmail - just sign out of each account first to be able to sign in to the next as a browser supports only one sign in at a time.

Thank You I am using a Dell Inspiron 16+ laptop with Windows 365 I logon to Talktalk webmail directly but can't see any info as to what version this is.
As for the e-mail server settings - how do I locate them please ? If I login to My account >manage e-mail then the only option offered when I click on either of the e-mail addresses is to 'Update Password' If I logon to the mailbox for an address I can't see anything leading to Server Settings

OK, first thing is for me to check that the device and email software you're using is supported. What device, operating system and email software version are you using?
The TalkTalk email settings are not absolutely identical for all devices so there are different guides for each type of device. Even then you may need individual help so the optimum way I can help is for you to take screenshots of the email software incoming and outgoing server settings, image edit to obscure the first part of your email address and upload here using the Camera icon (desktop browser) or Picture icon (mobile browser).

Thank you for explaining the process for deletion and the reason the Error message appears.
Before deleting I would like to 'correct' the error and update the server settings . I cannot see how to do this and would appreciate your advice on how to find and in what way to 'correct' them. As I have other Tiscali email addresses I assume they too have 'Legacy' settings and are likely to show the same error message at some time so it would be useful to know how to deal with it.

The incoming server host name is not the one specified by TalkTalk - it's a legacy host name - which tells me the server settings are out of date. However, if all you wish to do is have the email address deleted then the TalkTalk Data Protection Team are the ones to contact. They'll need to verify you're the registered user of the email address and having confirmed will take your instruction to permanently delete the mailbox contents and the address.
See the GDPR help page item 'Your Right to be Forgotten / Right to Erasure '. There's a postal address, which in my view is the best way to contact the Data Protection team, but you can initiate a contact via any of the TalkTalk contact methods.
