Hi there, The problem I am having is that my upload speed on my wired PC is only 0.2mbps. I am having difficulty sending emails and I cannot send any with attachments. This problem has existed for a long time and I am sick of it. I have disabled Large Send Offload IPV4(V2) in my network adaptor settings but no noticable change. Accessing websites on the internet can be difficult too Previous contact with TalkTalk has not proved helpful. Conversations are about Download Speed (12mbps) not Upload speed( 0.2mbps) What can be done? Thank you

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to you, however as you were advised by my colleague there are no reported incidents, so I can not say it is an infrastrucre problem. I will have to investigate your account and check the speeds you were promised, then start diagnostics checks.

I have been through the items on the link many times but to no avail.

An upload speed of 0.2 is so poor that it is making it virtually impossible to utilise my broadband.

Rather than me chasing shadows to improve matters and wasting my time , If it is an infrastructure problem please say so.

I want to move on.

You say I am handling it well. I don't see how you make that out as all I can do is live with the limitations of my service. It is extremely frustrating!

As far as I can see every thing is fine at my end  and the issue with upload speeds is an issue with the supply infrastructure.

Please confirm.

Hi there @Soloman13 I am sorry to hear you are still experiencing an issue with the speeds. We will need to complete diagnostic checks to detect the fault, please confirm whether you are messaging us from home?

The issue has not gone away.

I tried to send an email with proof of identity and it failed.

There is no next time it is all the time.

I have done every thing I can think of.

Are you saying Nothing can be done ?

You are most welcome, if the issue with speeds starts again, will then have to run checks on it okay.

Hi there, First let me tell you what has been done to date.

Autumn last year problems with the line resulted in a Openreach Engineer attending my home.

He found faults in the Fibre cab (About a mile away) and the master socket was faulty.

Note copper overhead wire connects the fibre cab and the house.

Faults were fixed and a new master socket fitted.

I received a new router which was fitted with new cables.

my PC (windows 11 fully updated)- I have turned off an Extension (Ad-Blocker), done a virus check.

I have disabled Large Send off offload IPV4(V2) which is recommended for slow upload speeds. This seems to have made a marginal improvement unless it is my imagination.

The main issue is that I have great difficulty sending any email with an attachment however small.

Have I missed anything or is it an infrastructure problem in which case I am stuck with the problem?

Regards

Thanks for clarifying which package you are on, @Soloman13.

Not a good line speed, but actually the Fibre35 prices are usually better than for Fast Broadband, so you're not losing out price wise, if that's any comfort.

But that upload speed is dire for Fibre35. With an overall download speed of 8 - 12mbps, the capacity for improvement may be very limited on your current infrastructure, sadly.

Look out for staff replies from 7am - c 5pm.

Thanks for responding.

I am on the fibre 35 package which is on overhead copper wire from the cab about a mile away. I get a minimum of 8mbps upto around 12 mbps

Full fibre is not available in my area so I am stuck on what I have.

I tried to send a short email with a form as an attachment. it failed time and time again.

I should be available tomorrow

Regards

@Soloman13, if your download speed is 12mbps, are you on a "Fast Broadband" package?

That's Talktalk's slowest, and it's copper only.

Upload speeds are not guaranteed, but don't go over 1mbps on that package.

I get by with o.4 - 0.8 mbps for upload. Email package sizes are limited anyway across most providers. That's more to do with how emails work, not so much your speeds. It just sometimes takes longer to send things, but there is a maximum package size for attachments etc.

The range I have is adequate for Zoom, YouTube, uploading videos (but usually not while doing anything else) etc.

But yours is definitely at the lower end of the range.

Staff will respond during the day, and you'll need to be at home while they try and diagnose the issue.

Just don't expect a superfast transformation if it's sorted - possibly worth looking into getting a full fibre installation sooner rather than later, if it is just too frustrating.
