Can anyone tell me why I have to sign in every time I want to open my TalkTalk emails.

This has only happened recently.

TalkTalk Mail users are being routinely asked to sign in to the mail platform. It's part of the process for identifying active mailboxes as a precursor to the planned migration of mailboxes to the OX Cloud 8 mail platform.

More detailed explanation follows. The sign in webpage is at apps.talktalk.co.uk and you're asked to enter your email address. There's a check to see if your mailbox is migrated or not. If not yet migrated there's a redirect to apps-legacy.talktalk.co.uk. You'll stay signed in if you've set to stay signed in. But if you open a new page at apps.talktalk.co.uk you'll get the sign in check once more. If you're signed in and not migrated you'll get the redirect to apps-legacy.talktalk.co.uk and if not signed in you'll be asked for the password for authentication.

The mailbox will need to be signed out for the migration to run smoothly. At some point you'll receive an emailed notification from TalkTalk giving the actual date.

Planned upgrades to TalkTalk Mail July-October 2023
